“I tried lifting weights once. But they were heavy, so I put them down.” - Kent Appleman (an old friend of the ours from Tulsa – not sure where he is, but if he finds this site please leave a comment!)
I’ve lifted weights for 30 years but I always loved that quote.
I make it a point not [...]

Nobody likes diet tips from thin people, so I never give them in person. Hopefully it will be a safe thing to do via a blog. I was blessed with a high metabolism, so I don’t assume that it is easy for everyone. But I eat what I want, when I want, and never gain [...]

When I read the Bible I often get in “student mode” and just read for the facts. It reminds me of being back in school and only caring what the teacher said if it was going to be on the test. The good news is that even when I read the Bible with the wrong attitude something [...]

Nicholas wrote: What happens to those who, through no fault of their own, never experience the Gospel of Christ? Have entire populations been hell-bound from birth having never had a chance to experience the [...]

Hey fellow bloggers – Rock You is the photo slideshow equivalent to YouTube (Why don’t I think of these things?!). This is just a simple example of a slideshow that was easy to create.

The Surrender Spender Democrats managed to make Al-Quaeda happy and approve some pork-barrel spending at the same time. This picture captures it all. The most pathetic part is that they had to know Bush would veto the bill but they still included the pork. The Republicans must be grateful for the ammo.

Subprime loan: “A type of loan that is offered at a rate above prime to individuals who do not qualify for prime rate loans. Quite often, subprime borrowers are often turned away from traditional lenders due their low credit ratings or other factors that suggest that they have a reasonable chance of defaulting on the [...]

“Doubting” Thomas wasn’t so bad. Here is the reference to his time of questioning:
John 20:24-29 Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his [...]

In an episode from The Simpsons where Homer sues the church, Marge tries to discourage him by saying that he’ll be made fun of in the church bulletin. Then Homer shows her that he already is.
This was just a little gag in the episode, of course. But the world could plug a picture of any of us at [...]

See below to see the latest installment of my friend Nicholas’ interview with me about Christianity or click here for the whole thing. This part is a follow up on the credibility of Biblical writers. We agreed to move on to a different topic next, which is good, because I’ve run out of things to say on [...]

Happy Saint Patrick’s day! Believe it or not, he wasn’t the patron saint of green beer. He had quite a life as a Christian missionary.
Christian belief a “hate crime” under proposed act – it has happened in other countries and will happen here if we aren’t careful. Think I’m kidding? The 9th U.S. Circuit Court [...]

It takes something special to offend two extreme groups at once. Some people do it by saying the right things and some by saying the wrong things, as these examples show.
1. Dr. Albert Mohler pulled it off with his article titled Is Your Baby Gay? What If You Could Know? What If You Could Do Something About [...]

This is all over the web but wanted to ensure you had a chance to see it. Any who has seen “An Inconvenient Truth” (and for that matter, anyone who hears all the global warming propoganda in the media) should watch this. Yes, it is long, but at least watch part of it. It is [...]

The top U.S. military officer, Marine Gen. Peter Pace caused a furor because of moral claims made during an interview with the Chicago Tribune. The General had the audacity to say:
I would not want it to be our policy that if we were to find out that so-and-so was sleeping with somebody else’s wife, that [...]

One of our church members who is getting a Masters of Divinity at Harvard shared this observation, among others:
“I feel kinda like the prodigal seminarian in our bunch, as I ended up at a pretty secular school. My fellow students and professors here at Harvard generally like Jesus but are quite dubious about the Bible and [...]
