Hindu appointed to run Christian religion studies - I am not making this up. I have some dear friends who are Hindus, so this is not a dig against their faith. But I wouldn’t expect a Christian to lead religious studies at a Hindu college, either.

Discernment takes a holiday: More pluralistic idiocy (hat tip: IRD). Will someone please inform this professor that the Bible says Jesus died on the cross and the Koran said He did not (among other major and irreconcilable differences between the religions)?
The way I understand Jesus is compatible with Islam. And although there are Christians and Muslims who think I must convert from one to another, the more I go down this path, the more excited I am about both Christianity and Islam.
…I agree with both [Islam and Christianity] because I do want to say that Jesus is unique, and for me, Jesus is my spiritual master. Muslims say Mohammed is the most perfect. Well, it depends on who you fall in love with….I was following Jesus, and he led me into Islam, and he didn’t drop me off at the door. He’s there, too.

Re: Discernment takes a holiday.
hahahah! Neil, where do you get this stuff? This is great satire! Worthy of the Onion!
Great post, Neil.
I’ve dated exactly one man who put my well-being on par with his own. Every other man I’ve dated would be surprised to learn that I have feelings or needs. Dating seems an exercise in giving the best of oneself to someone who does not notice nor care. I know it sounds cynical, but it’s true.
Great links, Neil! Thanks for sharing them!
Yeah, if I remember correctly, Muslims believe that Allah made someone else look like the Jesus, and that poor schmuck suffered a death on the cross. Meanwhile the “real” Jesus was put in suspended animation until the return of the 12th Madhi.
Thanks for the shout-out!
Oh, and I meant to tell you in an earlier post, C.S. Lewis’s thoughts on animals are kind of scattered in several of his books….he addresses them briefly at several points but I don’t remember exactly where. It’s a good excuse for me to read through all his books again, though!!
The media bias/pro-life language article reminds me that conservatives often take the high road and get punished for it. We do not, in the media, refer to the pro-choice side as “pro-baby killers” or “pro-infanticide.” Yet, we often let ourselves be labeled “anti-choice” or even “forced birthers.” (I kid you not.)
Whoever frames the issue, wins the debate; we’ve allowed the issue to be framed as one about a woman’s “right to choose” to continue being pregnant. We have not come out with guns blazing and reframed the issue as one akin to allowing men the choice whether or not to rape children, because, after all, it’s his body. It is as if we are ashamed to express the full atrocity of abortion, because, if we do, we’re being mean to the other side and conservatives are supposed to be nice and civilised. Odd that we are the most restrained about the most grotesque and barbaric of procedures.
