Oprah’s “new” religion – actually, it is recycled New Age / universalist stuff. Sadly, many people will be deceived by her and Eckhart Tolle. This is currently the top Podcast on itunes. Oddly, Oprah “reconciles” this system with her alleged Christianity. They sound as if they are making it up as they go along. They remind me of this quote by J. Budziszewski:
Though it always comes as a surprise to intellectuals, there are some forms of stupidity that you must be highly intelligent and educated to commit.

In remarks on McDonald’s Web site concerning the company becoming a member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), [McDonald's CEO] Skinner wrote: “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world…and we do.”

Well… it looks like we’re not going to McDonald’s any more. That’s not such a bad thing. Our son likes Sonic better any way.
Yeah for McDonalds!! We take our young adult church group there on our way back from summer camp every year. It’s become something of a tradition for us. I’m glad to hear they are standing on the side of justice and equality.
Neil said: Based on your link I assume you go to a United Methodist Church. I have read the sexuality section of the Methodist Book of Discipline as well as the whole Bible many times, and I can’t recall anything saying that “justice and equality” have anything to do with promoting gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender businesses. Feel free to let me know what verses you had in mind.
Seriously, comments like that show the foolishness of the pro-gay theology community. Trying to imply that we are anti-justice and equality because we don’t appreciate McDonald’s promoting gay commerce is a joke.
McDonalds could make a better difference by cooking real food.
I have been saying for some time that one of the big problems with our society is; the entertainment industry allows people to get rich without brains.
One of the restaurants has a commercial showing a man in a suit buying breakfast at what could be a McDonalds. He tries to pay with Monopoly money.
Young guy behind counter: “You can’t pay with that”
Man in Suit: “Why not?”
Young guy behind the counter: “It’s not real money”
Man in Suit (pointing to the tray): “But that’s not a real breakfast”.
Seriously, comments like yours show that you show no more respect for differences of opinion within your own denomination than you do those without, Neil. Have you put in for bishop yet? Better yet, for yourself as ella s the United Methodist Church: Haven’t you about decided that it’s time for you and the UMC to part ways? I mean, really. From your persepctive, your church is on the wrong track, mostly, isn’t it?
ER – thanks for your suggestions, but believe it or not I have given this a lot of thought and have decided to stay for now.
I addressed that question here: http://4simpsons.wordpress.com/2007/05/03/youre-a-what-a-methodist/
I think people have three options when they find themselves in a denomination / church that has been infiltrated with false teachings:
1. Leave
2. Stay and fight
3. Stay and not fight
The first two are equally acceptable to me. The last is not.
P.S. I’m assuming you meant to post this comment on the “Three ways . . .” post. I can’t see how it fits here.
Oopsie. Yes.
That Oprah new age humanist theology video proves one thing. You don’t have to have any intelligence in this country to become a billionaire. Another proof of that is Ted Turner.
Is Mcdonalds aware that millions of Christians eat up their food? Why arent they a member of ” this group?
