Weekly roundup

So what was the rush to treat little girls like lab rats?  Seems that the HPV vaccine isn’t all it was advertised to be.  Something to remember the next time the gov’t rushes in to trample parental rights.

I was tagged by 4 Pointer with these questions:

Question 1. If you were to be in ministry 10 years from now (whether you’re in ministry now or not) what would you like to be doing and where?

We’re all ministers to some extent.  I’d like to be retired from my CPA/Finance/Audit career and doing lots of volunteer things – teaching, mission trips, Kairos prison ministry, enjoying family, etc.  Basically the same things I’m doing now, just more of them.

Question 2. If you could wake up tomorrow with a degree and all the learning that would have gone with it from any seminary which one would you pick and why?

Gordon Conwell.  I’ve heard good things about it, and it is a conservative, Bible-believing seminary in the Northeast.

Question 3. What’s your poison: donuts, beer, wine, pizza, chocolate, twinkies, key-lime pie?

Hazelnut creamer in my coffee.  LOTS of it.   And mayonnaise wherever I can use it.

I’m supposed to think of 5 others to tag but don’t want to play favorites, so consider yourself tagged.

Obama is lying about others lying- will the MSM check the facts and let voters know his real stand on abortion, partial birth abortion (aka infanticide) and his opposition to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act?

Obama wants change . . . except when it comes to abortion as birth control, inside the womb or outside it.

Obama wants you . . .

  • to pay for abortion!
  • to sanction the killing of infants born alive!
  • to believe that pregnancy is a “punishment”!
  • to accept partial birth abortion!
  • to forget his close association with radical abortion groups like NARAL and PP!
  • to endorse liberal activist Supreme Court Judges that support abortion in the 9th month!
  • to embrace a culture of death!

Listen to his own words, plus his silly comment about the question of when life begins being above his pay grade:

He couldn’t be more clear about his plans:

  1. Neil,

I wanted to blog about these two videos but I wasn’t sure whether or not some quotes were taken out of context. The video in front of the PlannedParenthood poster – well – there’s little to take out of context on that one…

  2. The extravagant claims about the HPV vaccine were made by its manufacturer, not the government. I would argue that the FDA should have prohibited them from advertising it in that manner or from advertising prescription drugs to the general public altogether, but that is because I believe in good regulation.

There are just far too many important issues facing the American people to single out abortion as the acid test for a Presidential candidate. Constitutional rights, the Iraq war, torture, and the economy are all more important.

Even if one takes the position that abortion is murder, there is no federal law against murder per se – that is a state crime. Furthermore, there are no other situations one can name in which the alternative to terminating a human life is to force a human being to raise a child against their will from infancy through adulthood. Additionally, if the federal government had a desire to demonstrate its commitment to the sanctity of human life, then abolishing the death penalty and avoiding wars of aggression at all costs would be much more prudent and Constitutional steps.

  3. Charley,
“The extravagant claims about the HPV vaccine were made by its manufacturer, not the government. ”
Correct, but it is the gov’t that was making people get the vaccines. The problem isn’t that the manufacturers were saying their drug was awesome – although if they made false statements they should have to answer for that. The manufacturers by themselves have no real power; they can’t force people to take the vaccine, the problem is that they use a gov’t that has the power to force people to do things.
“but that is because I believe in good regulation.” So, you believe good regulation is the answer to… bad regulation?
You think government regulating vaccine commercials is the answer to preventing the government from forcing us to take … the very same vaccine? That doesn’t make sense.

“Even if one takes the position that abortion is murder, there is no federal law against murder per se – that is a state crime. ” That’s why so many Democrats think that abortion should be a state issue. Oh wait, NONE of them do.

“Furthermore, there are no other situations one can name in which the alternative to terminating a human life is to force a human being to raise a child against their will from infancy through adulthood.” While adopting a child is difficult, I am under the impression that giving a child up for adoption is fairly easy.

“There are just far too many important issues facing the American people to single out abortion as the acid test for a Presidential candidate. Constitutional rights, the Iraq war, torture, and the economy are all more important.”
Civil liberties are important, so is the economy. But personally, I think a baby getting it’s head punctured by scissors is more important than “my rights” and “my pocketbook.” That’s just me. As far as torture, I trust that you would support anesthetic for abortion, because I don’t think it exactly feels good for them.

  4. “There are just far too many important issues facing the American people to single out abortion as the acid test for a Presidential candidate. Constitutional rights, the Iraq war, torture, and the economy are all more important.”

I agree 100% with what Chance said, and would like to add that unless you are claiming that abortion doesn’t kill an innocent human being then your point makes no sense. If 3,500+ innocent human beings are being destroyed each day then that seems like issue #1 to me.

I’m not pro-torture, but which of the following would you prefer to have happen to you?

    1. Waterboarded for a short time
    2. Have your limbs ripped off and skull crushed without anesthetic

    I’d pick #1.

Also, let’s think about volume. There are 20,000 abortions for every capital punishment, and those put to death via CP are virtually certain to be guilty and had 10+ years of appeals. Do you support 10 years of appeals for the unborn? I’d settle for 10 months.

  5. I would like to protest the addition of wine and chocolate onto the “poison” list. The health benefits of each (red and dark, respectively) are well-documented and extensive. :p

I’ve been complaining about the HPV vaccine – and the fact that we are using girls as guinea pigs for Big Pharma, a situation that would otherwise be intolerable for liberals – for years. Does anyone listen? Nooo!

(Actually, I did my third-year capstone paper on mandatory vaccination. Tammi has a copy. I think she stopped after the first page, which is not the most ringing of endorsements.)

So, what do you think?
