As noted in the overview, this is part of a series of experiences I want to share about evangelism. Please feel free to add your own.
On my first mission trip to Kenya in 2004, while we were painting some windows at the hospital, a woman who worked there stopped by to visit with us (The woman in the picture is my friend, Florence. She wasn’t the woman who approached us, but this was taken at that time and location).
After less than a minute of greetings she paused and asked, “So, are you saved?” We chuckled because it was like, “Uh, yeah, that’s one of the reasons we are here . . .”
But I really appreciated her tone and desire to share the truth of Jesus with us if we didn’t know it. The only people who ask me that question in the U.S. are the cultists who come to my door with false belief systems.
The hospital in Maua, Kenya shares the Gospel with everyone who comes to them. There is no coercion, and they get the same loving treatment regardless of their beliefs.
May we all be as dedicated and loving about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ as that woman was!
