Proposition 2 passed, meaning that farm animals will have more reasonably sized cages. No objections there.
Proposition 4 failed, meaning that girls under 18 can get abortions without parental consent.
Chickens can now move about more freely while the destruction of unborn human beings continues. The children of California parents can have extremely serious medical procedures and their grandchildren can be destroyed, all without their knowledge.
Now if the girls were carrying chickens instead of human beings, it would be a different story.
To enable our children to take a single Advil at school, we had to take an original bottle there and fill out a form. If we wanted to retrieve the unused pills at the end of the year, we had to return to school. That seems overly cautious to me, but given the drug problems in schools I suppose I can understand it.
But contrast that with those who oppose parental notification laws for abortions performed on minors. They want public school officials to be able to whisk your daughter off to have surgery which would risk her physical and mental health in addition to killing your grandchild. The surgery would take place at a clinic with lower standards than hospitals have. They might be covering up a statutory rape as well, as that is often the case with teen pregnancies.
32 percent were worried about the risk in notifying parents, even though emergency clauses and notification of an adult relative are included.
The typical argument put forth by those opposing these laws is that the girls might get abused if the parents were notified. But that is really poor reasoning. Using that logic, teachers couldn’t send home progress reports, report cards or disciplinary notes because the parents might abuse the children. Police couldn’t even arrest teens who committed crimes.
Of course, I’m against child abuse and think it should be punished. But the risk of it is hardly an excuse not to have parental notification laws, especially when there are emergency clauses in place.

Great article…well written! Abosolutely barbaric! I also read a quotation in the paper yesterday that Governor Ah-node in CA compared the banning of same sex marriages to that of blacks and whites not being able to marry in the 60’s. The last I checked, mixed races could create offspring, but same sexes could not. Seems like he really wants to appeal to the masses in every proposition out there, eh?
neil,
exactly…what is wrong with the thought processes of these people. abortion is a major, evasive procedure…and no parental consent is needed?
man is calling evil good and good evil….i think i read that somewhere.

Great article Neil!
Oh yes, don’t forget teens have to get parental permission to get their ears poked for piercing! How dainty! Precious holes in ears need permission but the horrendous procedure of going in and killing of a baby doesn’t need parents?
I have a friend who works in social services MediCal department and she is sickened by the number of young girls who come in and get repeat abortions without their parents knowledge. Abortions paid by our government are being used as birth control by these young girls!
Parents, do you know where your daughters are?
And don’t get me started on Gov A-node! I am livid that he could compare interracial marriages to same-sex marriages! People just don’t think!
Calming back down…1-2-3.
Okay.
Great rant, Carlotta! Preach on!
I have to reply to these arguments. I too am concerned about the health and well-being of children, but I think there’s a reason that abortions for teens are confidential. Abuse happens, people, even among Christians, and there are many young girls who, if they had to get parental consent, would face getting expelled from their homes, beaten, or worse. Those that face such awful prospects would resort to “getting rid” of the baby themselves, which would be far more dangerous. The real way to combat abortion is by educating teens about how to prevent unplanned pregnancy. What makes me crazy is people who want to end abortion, but then turn around and oppose comprehensive sex education. It just doesn’t make sense.
You know they originally sized those chicken cages partly on the places chickens chose for themselves to nest. The close quarters made them safe from surprise attacks. Of course I’m sure all those chicken rumors about fox attacks didn’t have any basis since we all know how kind wild animals are.
The point is, I sometimes wonder if we should apply some animal standards to ourselves, instead of making animals conform to ours. I can see two sows on a talk show saying the trouble with humans is that they don’t eat their young, sometimes I wonder if they are right.
As to the last comment, if the girl lives in a home where she could be expelled, beaten,or worse, hiding the abotion and leaving her in the home is probably not doing her a favor.
Hi danamg, thanks for visiting and commenting.
How about the health and well being of unborn children?
Some children get abused for bad grades, getting in trouble at school, etc. Do you protest sending grades and feedback home to parents?
Your birth control comment is irrelevant as to whether abortion kills an innocent human being. And birth control is notoriously unreliable, especially for teens, even after decades of Planned Parenthood-style education.
What makes me crazy is people pushing sexuality on children and telling them to have sex “whenever they are ready,” then acting surprised that they get pregnant, and then accepting abortions as a solution and not telling the parents.
Hi Neil,
I think there as a mass delusion on the left. Their reasoning is darkened, and their thought processes are clouded, because those arguments against parental notification are vapid.
It makes me mad!
Thanks Neil,
It’s amazing how the majority vote can appear to hold such conflicting moral positions (e.g. Carlotta’s rant). Actually I would be interested to know the content and polling result of all the propositions for such an analysis.
HT to you over on my site.
Cheers,
Duane
