Evangelical atheists try to get equal time for their views in state holiday display – These folks need to understand that the term “holidays” is a contraction of “holy” and “days.”  It just doesn’t apply to them.

That said, we shouldn’t get up in arms over this.  We should just ignore them.  They try to infringe on our free speech rights, but let’s not stoop to their level.

Dan Barker is a self parody.  Yeah, Christmas celebrations “stole” the holiday.  How amusing to see him make a moral claim that he thinks we should care about.

“Gay Bible” to be published – Hey, I’m just glad that they know that the real Bible clearly teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin and that the only way around that is to create a God in your own image.  Too bad so many false-teaching Christians can’t understand the real Bible like the authors of this fake version.   Hope the theological liberals catch that part.  And I hope that the “translators” are convicted as they read the real text and realize that forgiveness is possible through Christ.

And as the link asks, “Where’s the Gay Koran…oh wait, nevermind…..”

UK bishops demand Muslim prayer rooms in Catholic schools - the closing comment says it all:

Winston Churchill was right:

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.

Why did the terrorists pick Mumbai, India?  Lax gun control was probably part of the rationale.

Censorship masquerading as protection - University of Calgary forces changes to pro-life demonstration because it might trigger violence against them.  I wonder if they are so protective of protestors that align with their worldview?

  1. Gay Bible and Muslim prayer room in Catholic schools. And the Christians hijacked Christmas (a combination of the words “Christ” and “Mass”, perhaps?)

Neil, I’m speechless at such deeply profound stupidity. That hasn’t happened in a long, long while.

  2. I absolutely have to agree. Actually reading the links doesn’t seem necessary since the highlighted words are goofy enough. “Gay Bible”? Yeah, sure.

  3. Neil: Dan Barker is a self parody. Yeah, Christmas celebrations “stole” the holiday.

It’s my understanding that the winter solstice was celebrated long before 0CE, in diverse places. Christianity did “steal” the pagan holiday.

Neil said: Putting on the same day is not stealing it. Notice how you had to use quotes to even pretend to take this seriously. If you steal something the other people no longer have it. You can celebreate the winter solstice all you like.

You don’t care that the celebration of Christmas is likely a repackaged pagan celebration created to make Christianity more appealing, or at least more familiar, to non-Christians?

Neil said: I am quite familiar with the history of Christmas, including the dating , the non-sprititual drunken excesses that marked most of history, the impact of The Night Before Christmas and A Christmas Carol in radically changing the holiday and making it kid-friendly and the over-commercial that quickly crept in.

Most importantly, I am very familiar with the real story and the real meaning. No matter what people do to try and distract us from these truths, God really did come to earth in human form to live the perfect life in our place and die for our sins. That is the Good News!

Merry Christ-mass and Happy Holy Days!

  4. It is amusing that some people comment without even clicking the links once to discover that the “gay bible” is really an independent movie, not an attempt tor re-write scripture.

As for Christmas, a short visit to Wikipedia would quickly put to rest the arguments above. For example, Yule is the name of the pagan winter festival that Christmas supplanted in Britain. Giftgiving originated in the Roman Saturnalia festival, Greenery and lights came from the Roman New Year celebration. The choice of a day near the Winter Solstice was made because it was widely celebrated as the birthday of the unconquered Sun and allowed Romans to celebrate several sun gods at the same time.

The early Christian Cyprian wrote, “O, how wonderfully acted Providence that on that day on which that Sun was born…Christ should be born.” St. John Chrysostom wrote “They call it the ‘Birthday of the Unconquered’. Who indeed is so unconquered as Our Lord . . .?”

There is no such thing as the real meaning of Christmas. It is an assimilation of the winter festivals of several pagan religions into the developing Christian religion which used this date and the legends of Jesus’ birth to win converts.

So may you enjoy the Winter Solstice and celebrate the joyous rebirth of the unconquered Sun.

    Hi DL,

I did click the link and accurately reflected what it said. Please re-read it and see for yourself. The “gay bible” is being released in text form by a film producer. It is re-write of scripture. The link even gave an example of the new text from Genesis. They have a lot of work to do, considering that:

100% of the real verses addressing homosexual behavior denounce it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.

100% of the real verses referencing God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.

100% of the real verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).

0% of 31,173 real Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions.

Re. Christmas: The real meaning of Christ-Mass is a celebration of Christ.

  6. neil…love your round ups. keep up the good ‘reporting’

  7. The Old Testament writers had a lot of opinions about how people should act that we no longer pay attention to – multiple wives for example. Most biblical prohibitions for the ancient Jewish people are no longer considered rational, why should homosexuality be an exception? You may want to read more about the Bible and Homosexuality.

The real meaning of Christmas seems to be the coming salvation of the retail bottom line. At least, that gets a lot more attention than its religious context.

The OT is the word of God, so those weren’t “opinions.” If people read in context they can see what restrictions were unique for the Israelites as a people set aside by God and living in a theocracy and what restrictions were universal moral commands. See flaws of the shellfish argument for examples of this. Feel free to point out where you think I have misinterpreted anything there.

The site you linked to has typical false teachings. They claim that we believe the basis of truth is “”Sola Scriptura” — solely the Bible.” That is false. We believe that all truth is God’s truth, but when in doubt we compare truth claims to what is in the Bible.

They dogmatically state that “Christians should be open to the Holy Spirit teaching the need for change,” which is just the illogical notion that God couldn’t get the original writings correctly transmitted but that He speaks with clarity to individuals on what does and doesn’t belong in the Bible. And, oddly enough, He mainly delivers his “changes” to liberals who just happened to come to their views when the surrounding culture did. Go figure.

Those are just a couple examples of many. I expect that from false teachers.

The real meaning of Christmas seems to be the coming salvation of the retail bottom line. At least, that gets a lot more attention than its religious context.

I agree that that is true for most folks!

  9. In truth, the celebration of Christmas is never dictated in Scripture. God does give us holy days to celebrate, which, as a culture we would be better off sticking to those holy days. There are 52 of them a year, and most people call them “Sunday.” As for celebrating the birth of Christ, there is no mandate for it in Scripture, nor witness to it in the early church history, so it did creep in later on. It is just a tradition of men.

But that said, we put up the pagan tree last night, along with the pagan lights, and the pagan decorations. It sure is fun. We also talk about how Jesus is the true Light of the World, and the importance of the incarnation. Jesus Christ truly did walk on the earth. Without Him, there would be no real hope in our world, no real change in our lives. If Christmas is used to remind us of this, then so be it. Use it for His glory, what is important is that the Gospel is preached!

  10. Seem like DL’s arrogance doesnt need to be clicked on. We can see it very plainly.

Thanks Neil, you have the true heart of Christ.

  11. “Christians should be open to the Holy Spirit teaching the need for change,”

Of course they should, but that change is usually in themselves. And before anyone makes any changes it is important to be sure that it really is the Holy Spirit speaking to them. That is where the Bible comes in, and I think it is one of its most important functions.

As for Christmas, whatever its origins, God can use anything for good. So use it as an opportunity to study scripture, that way you will recognize the Holy Spirit when it speaks to you.

  12. Gay Bible? This is wrong on so many levels and I don’t even have to mention homosexuality! I couldn’t resist reading some of the samples and to be fair there is one positive comment I can make.

The author was very gracious in making sure every theory about the beginning of the world was included. Creationism, Animism…the list is endless.

I find it ironic it a text dubbed the “Gay Bible” is atheistic in supposing humans are evolved apes that worship a God they created themselves. The first ancestors were lesbians where one had a sexual relationship with Satan to begin civilization?

Ge4:1 And Eve conceived, and bore Cain, and said, we have created a child in God’s image. And God said the male was different than the woman because he was fathered by the serpent. The man’s member is different than the woman’s because it resembles the head of his father, the serpent.

…wow that is an amazing find!

  13. If DL cares to, he can also look to the comments section of my very first post at my blog for a reprinted explanation of why some OT laws apply and others don’t.

    End shameless plug

  14. That Gay Bible sounds interesting. I hope they also get their own Gay Christmas, and Gay Thanksgiving. For us in the US, that would mean 4 more days off from work. I won’t get insulted if people wish me a “gay christmas” as long as they give me 2 days off…

Let’s do support them on this one request if they put it forward.
