Not like my family, but like the TV show. The Simpsons does a good job of making fun of everyone. If only the media could pretend to be as balanced as a cartoon show then it would do wonders for the country.
Just a couple examples from the past week where the Mainstream Media was silent or pretty quiet:
A mayor is charged with various crimes, including child porn, and MSNBC fails to mention his political party (guess which one?)
The Obama inaugural is a CO2 disaster. Where’s the outrage from the Greens?
Obama is pre-picking journalists. Where are the howls about censorship? I get more flack from Lefties for deleting a few trolls from my blog than Obama gets from the MSM for excluding real live journalists.
Bush’s 2005 inauguration costs were criticized for being too high in a time of war, how the money would be better spent for the poor, etc. – typical Helen Lovejoy “Won’t somebody please think of the children?!” speak. Yet Obama’s costs are three times as high at a time when the economy is much worse and I’m not hearing complaints from the Left.
The price tag for President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration gala is expected to break records, with some estimates reaching as high as $150 million. Despite the bleak economy, however, Democrats who called on President George W. Bush to be frugal four years ago are issuing no such demands now that an inaugural weekend of rock concerts and star-studded parties has begun.
My problem with the media is not so much that they are biased…everyone is biased…
My problem is that they PRETEND to be objective, and a lot of people believe that they are.
Good distinction, Jason.
With government, half of hollywood, lobbyists, the media, and some ultra rich in cahoots together, I don’t know what to do anymore.
We can fight it till they take that away too.
What irks me is the total blindness and apathy to the real facts. Do we live in a world full of dreamers?
Neil,
I think Obama should party, he has accomplished something historical and I glad he is partying and not some hip hop mogul. I like hip hop but I know they don’t make a true representation of African- American culture. I know people attack him about a lot of issues but he’s seems to be a family man and good husband. At least let’s sound shout about the things he does get right. A lot of black men and a lot of men in general need to get those issues correct.
You do know their is a boycott of Fox.
“The Obama inaugural is a CO2 disaster. Where’s the outrage from the Greens?”
Well of course. As we all know, some more pigs more equal.
(Not calling Obama a pig…simply making an Animal Farm reference).
Or as I’ve long referred to the Democratic party, they are the party of “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Synly,
Are we to pat Barry on the back for doing basic things right, like being a good father and husband? Is that really what you’re saying? I would expect no less from any leader, heck, from any person. It means nothing regarding whether or not he is worthy of the office he won based on nothing but empty rhetoric and the color of his skin.
Neil,
Regarding the post, this was discussed at another blog and one excuse when the comparison was made between his and Bush’s election was that Bush positioned himself as a war president, thus, the spending was inappropriate in times of war. However, Barry has positioned himself as a president of change (well he changed how much should be spent) and one of economic responsibility. Where is either?
Good point, Marshall. This was hypocrisy in action regardless of how much Bush’s critics spin it.
All
Regarding the cost of the inauguration. You guys will believe anything. The number being thrown out INCLUDES security costs. The number being used for comparison to Bush’s party DOES NOT INCLUDE security costs.
This is a very unfair comparison. Including security, Bush’s inauguration cost was near 157 million. Here is a link for more info.

It seems somehow appropriate that BHO’s coronation should be the most expensive in history. It is a perfect picture of what his presidency is sure too look like. Can you say trillions in deficits.
Another tidbit which could be a foretaste of the new administration. The coronation is the largest gathering of portable rest facilities (Biff’s, Port-a-Potties, Scotties Potties etc.) in the history of our great republic. I’m not sure but it could be some kind of sign.
Craig,
Considering the crap they’ve been shoveling so far, they best keep those facilities in place for the duration of his single term.
