Go Steelers! They are back in the Super Bowl, which means that the universe has temporarily regained alignment. They are an amazingly successful small market franchise.
Here’s a video of the Immaculate Reception, aka the Best. Play. Ever. I was in 4th grade and my relatives from Pittsburgh were visiting. They turned the game on in time to see that play. Watching it again reminds me of how well Bradshaw scrambled around to keep it alive.
I was hooked on the Steelers after that. They’ve always been my favorite team, but I’m in a start-watching-when-they-get-deep-in-the-playoffs mode now. I don’t have time to follow them too closely.
I’ll be rooting for them heavily but I do like Kurt Warner as well. Should be a fun game.

Great farewell message from President Bush

I didn’t watch any of the inauguration, but kudos to Rick Warren for his prayer.

Obama really cares about you, provided that you are an elite donor.
Surprisingly no PETA, Global Warming, nor Code Pink protesters are seen as the Elite Obama Donors arrive in chauffeur driven stretch limousines dressed in their finest furs.

From the “What have we become?” category: Virginia Court Rules 6-Year-Old Daughter of Christian Woman Must Visit Lesbian: Threatens Use of Force If Necessary. And this is without them ever being legally married. But oxymoronic “same sex marriage” won’t have any impact on us, will it?

CNN has an article about Sam Adams, the Portland mayor involved in a sex scandal. They were apparently too busy worshiping Obama to determine the political party of the mayor, as that was nowhere to be found in the article. Surprisingly enough, he ‘s a Democrat! Go figure. But they wouldn’t have mentioned his party affiliation if he was Republican, either . . . right? UPDATE: Sometime in the last 12 hours CNN added his party affiliation. Maybe I have better sources than they do, because I figured it out right away.
The mayor was 42 when he met a 17 yr. old legislative intern. He first claimed they never had sex and lashed out at his accusers. Now he is admitting that they had sex, but insists that it was only after the intern turned 18. And you can definitely trust him on that. Seems to me that the age difference is rather creepy, but then again you can find a false pastor who insists that any technically legal relationship should never be newsworthy (oddly, he didn’t make note of the political party, either). He even noted this:
Adams now claims that had he first come clean and admitted that he had had an affair with an 18 year old that as a gay man he wouldn’t have been believed because of old and false stereotypes about gay men preying on young boys.
Uh, yeah, “old and false.” Hard to believe those urban legends are still around when you have 42 year old men scoping out 17 year old boys and people lining up to rationalize it away on liberal blogs. And no, I’m not saying all gays are pedophiles. I’m just pointing out the multiple inanities of the media, liberals and false teachers.

Gotta love Zo. I like his line about the 2nd Amendment being the “In case of emergency break glass tool in case the 1st Amendment stops working on our government.”
Are you suggesting that President Bush wasn’t primarily concerned with his “elite” donors? Just because his “elite” were the so-called masters of the universe corporate investment banking, oil company and energy company elites, and not as public as the Hollywood elites, doesn’t make them any less that…I’m jus’ saying tovaricsh…
He couldn’t see around the “America for Sale” signs on the White House front lawn and helopad.
Office holders in Portland, Oregon are elected on a non-partisan basis. There is a primary where anyone can run. If someone achieves 50% of the vote they win the race outright. If, however, no one wins 50% there is a runoff. Political parties generally do not become involved in such non-partisan local races and so the mayor, for example, is never identified by his political party. Such a distinction would be irrelevant. I’m saddened, however, that you’ve once again reached into your homophobic and hateful arrow quill and made the false argument that gay men go after young boys. The statistics don’t hold up. I’m sure you’ll try and find some made up anti-gay report to back up your claims but you’re on the losing side of history in your bigoted views, again.
Hi Chuck,
I see you are still an unrepentant liar and libeler.
How about demonstrating how anything I wrote reflects an irrational fear of homosexuals? I get along great with gays. I specifically noted that I was not claiming that all gays were pedophiles, but you ignored that.
It seems to me that you are the real homophobe. You have such an irrational fear of the gay lobby and the PC-police that you proudly teach the opposite of what the Bible does. That’s a pretty lousy witness, buddy.
I’m familiar with the non-partisan basis, but I still contend that if it was a Republican they would have mentioned it immediately. You might contact CNN with your analysis and tell them that they were mistaken to add his party affiliation it to a subsequent release of the story.
Now how about being a man and at least pretending to be a Christian and do the honest thing for once? Remember, you falsely accused me of making the following comments but you never backed any of them up. Not one, despite multiple requests.
- Racist
- Sexist
- Homophobe
- Offensive language
- “More” (whatever that means)
I’m not sure how you sleep at night Chuck. If you were any kind of a man and a Christian you would apologize for your lies. I would gladly accept it and move on. You know you just got frustrated and put out a childish statement that you thought I wouldn’t be able to call you on. But the Internet is a big place, isn’t it?
Sadly you just keep doubling down and repeating your lies. You should take a lesson from Sam Adams. Or the lesson I teach my kids: When you realize you’ve dug yourself into a hole, the first thing you should do is stop digging.
But oxymoronic “same sex marriage” won’t have any impact on us, will it?

The slope that advocates of same sex unions frequently refer to isn’t so slippery after all!

Good point, Joseph. The gay lobby knows that once they have their “civil rights” for their sexual preferences that it will be hard or impossible to undo. By the time the masses realize we were right all along about the logical consequences (e.g., the polygamy you cited, the poor girl forced to visit the lesbian who wasn’t even “married” to her mother, the things they teach in schools, etc.) it will be too late.
Chuck:
Hi. You wont let me post on your blog so its nice to see you come over here for a visit. I would argue that it is you who perpuates homophobia and racism. You are the one who have to bring these social issues front and center. You are obsessed with it. If only you were more passionate about His holy word? You see sexual orientation and the color of skin in everyone. When I advocate for abused children as a Gaurdian ad Litem, when I feed the homeless on the weekend and when I hang out with addicts at our local ministry, I pray God continues to allow me to only see people who need help…not a gay person or a black person. I pray the same for you in all whom you deal with.
Hey Neil, thanks for the support. Check this out, a preacher buddy showed me this on his laptop, its a pretty good resource. The cd has 20 different commentaries in it (Spurgeon, Poole, Henry, etc). Each time you pull up scripture, it will pull up accompanying commentary. Id like to see Johnny Mac and Barclay added (I think Barclay is very strong from a historical persepective, but dont agree with all of his ideas):

Chuck, if you like, Id be happy to send you a copy, in the spirit of edification.
Hi Bret,
Chuck won’t let you post either? I’m not bothered that he doesn’t let me post. I am bothered that he is such an unrepentant liar.
Speaking of racism, did you catch the racist pastor Chuck highlighted as having “inclusive and prophetic” words? http://chuckcurrie.blogs.com/chuck_currie/2009/01/a-prayer-for-all-gods-people.html Maybe he meant “pathetic.”
I was hoping that after the inauguration that liberals like him could get to where conservatives have been for decades, which is living out MLK’s dream of judging people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
Thanks for the link on the Bible study software. Those recommended readings look outstanding.
Zo is da bomb….he had better start posting on Eyeblast before he gets booted from youtube.

“Dont add on”, by Blair at P4CM:
That Lowery speech/prayer/billboard for liberal idealogies was offensive , not only as a white male who humbly serves ANYONE in need, regardless of color (yet, according to these cats, I have yet to embrace whats right)…but also as a Christian.
Lowery likened, no actually implied, that the God I serve, the God who created me and the God who sent his son for the sake of my wretchedness is the same God (allah) that muslims worship….if you notice, at one point Lowery asks God to give us guidance or something like that, wherever we seek His truth, in temples, churches and mosques.

From Ambassador:
Neil,
I really enjoy so much of what you write that it pains me to have to tell you that, for once, you’re wrong. This whole “go Steelers” thing is from the pit of hell. I mean, even the Phoenix newspaper, the Arizona Republic, headlined, “Faith still at core of Warner’s success”
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2009/01/09/20090109boivin0109.html
Kurt said, “If you ever really want to do a story about who I am, God’s got to be at the center of it.” So your efforts to cheer the Steelers over the Cardinals is clearly wrong.
(Now, don’t go suggesting that just because I’m here in Arizona that I have some prejudice in this question. It’s true, of course, but don’t go suggesting it.)
A lot of good substance again. I love the Steelers clip. Remember, I was an Oilers fan at the time, so I didn’t see it. But I do appreciate that catch. It was spectacular in an age when dynasties still existed.
BTW, I have to pull for the Steelers in the Super Bowl. They are from the AFC, and I just can’t imagine the hapless Cardinals pulling this off.
Blessings
Stan, I stan(d) corrected. If the Steelers lose then the only silver lining will be that someone like Warner was the victor.
Pastor Timothy, as usual you are on the side of good.
Neil are you talking about Chuck or the little blurb at the end of Rev. Lowery’s benediction?
Hi Mizclark — I’m not sure which sentence of mine that you are referring to. If it is the part I think it is then I was referring to Lowery’s bit, which I found to be racist, and which Chuck endorsed.
That was it…just trying to follow the conversation is all. I really hadn’t made up my mind on that part.
P.S. to Chuck Currie above — isn’t it interesting that you use the same “homophobe” attack line that Sam Adams did when he was lying about his sexual relationship with the young man? Right out of your playbook: If someone disagrees with you, call them a homophobe, or a racist, or whatever.
Pathetic.
love that last video, very down to earth
