The power of Satan

It was with great sadness that I learned that a theologically liberal blogger was going to spend many, many thousands of dollars and countless hours going to some form of seminary.  I grieve for him and how he will spread his false teachings to a broader audience and I grieve for those he will mislead.  What a waste.

Satan has such incredible power (though fortunately God has much more).  What else could cause someone to spend to much time and money to “learn” more about how to tell people that you can’t know the truth about God?  This guy is so convinced that we can’t know much about God — “through a glass darkly” and all that.  Yet he “knows” that orthodox believers are wrong about the Bible.  And he is quite certain that it’s bad to oppose anti-Biblical and oxymoronic “same sex marriage.”   He knows the Bible isn’t all inspired, but that some of it is.  He’ll be glad to tell you which parts.  Oddly, the parts he agrees with conform remarkably to the views of the world.  Go figure.

My guess is that he isn’t so direct with his universalism (“everybody’s going to Heaven!”) and anti-Bible messages when they hand him the microphone in church.

These people have such transparently false beliefs.  If they really believed in universalism they’d send reverse missionaries to de-convert people from Christianity.  After all, if everyone is going to Heaven anyway, why suffer as a Christian in India, Kora, Cambodia, Iran and so many other countries hostile to the Gospel?

Who would have thought that the most God-honoring thing this guy could do was to not go to seminary?  I pray that one day he’ll read the Bible with open eyes and he’ll learn the truth.

It just goes to show how truly messed up Christianity has become in the U.S. that so many people can call themselves Christians, mock the word and the cross and not even realize their heresies.

Screwtape lives.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Roundup

Get ready for a flurry of Hollywood films about the hate crimes perpetuated by the anti-Prop 8 crowd and especially the McCarthy-esque blacklisting

April Fools!  Don’t get ready.  Irony is lost on those folks.

P.S. Presumably Elton John is on the blacklist, since he opposed Prop 8 and therefore must hate gay people.

Re. the Reverend Ed Young’s “7 Day Sex Challenge” – It is pretty sad when even the secular media see the gimmick for what it is.

An excellent series of responses to an atheist poster mocking the Bible.  It covers the usual charges about misogyny, slavery, parenting, etc. in a thorough and concise fashion.

Are children born with a belief in God?  Seems plausible enough:

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Popes getting it wrong: They claim that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.  Not. Even. Close.

Psalm 67

ps67.jpgGreetings!  This short Psalm makes many references to how God is the God of all people, not just the Israelites.  They were the messengers of his salvation and the message is to go to all nations.  Sadly, many Jewish people didn’t pick up on that theme and many in the  church today ignore this.  They rationalize that all religions lead to God, but that isn’t a biblical theme at all.

Psalm 67

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us

and make his face shine upon us, Selah

2 that your ways may be known on earth,

your salvation among all nations.

3 May the peoples praise you, O God;

may all the peoples praise you.

4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy,

for you rule the peoples justly

and guide the nations of the earth. Selah

5 May the peoples praise you, O God;

may all the peoples praise you.

6 Then the land will yield its harvest,

and God, our God, will bless us.

7 God will bless us,

and all the ends of the earth will fear him.
