Must see: Cambridge cop says she won’t vote for Obama again after Gatesgate
If you’re looking for postracial America, you’ve found it.
Also, has anyone else heard much about Gates’ upcoming PBS special about race in America? I’m not much for conspiracy theories, but does anyone else wonder if he might have provoked this a bit or milked it for see free publicity?

Make sure your kids aren’t by your PC when you click on this ==> No Nudity Crackdown in San Francisco – Police Again Allow Rampant Public Nudity, Sex Acts at Deviant ‘Up Your Alley’ Street Fair — That is, of course, unless you are one of the commenters defending the attendance of children at those swell gay pride events. After all, you know the truth that people who object to things shown in the link are just bigoted homophobes who don’t realize how healthy it is for children to see such things.

Good quote on the global climate change stuff:
Sharp Americans are starting to understand H.L. Mencken’s observation that “The urge to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it.”

When the Gates arrest was reported, one of the first things mentioned was the special on PBS. And in the heat of Gates anger, right or wrong, he mentioned a new focus on racial-profiling for a future project. Then and now I believe the linking of the documentary and the arrest is a bit of a non-sequitur simply because I don’t think Gates planned to be arrested in his own house. I think all parties involved didn’t handle things the way they could’ve been.
One other comment. I’ve been to several gay pride events in DC and Wichita and have never witnessed any public nudity. What I did notice were lots of families walking around eating funnel cake and listening to techno music. Scary!
I think Gates may have used this as a publicity stunt. I think it went further than he anticipated if that was the case. I really think Gates suffers from a big dose of pride more than anything. I did weigh in on this in more detail on http://syinlysweblog.net
If that is true then he acted stupidly.
Great roundup Neil!
A lot of blogs are reporting that the Gates scandal – and subsequent question to Obama – was planned. Was the entire thing a set up?:
After finding out about this upcoming PBS special – I don’t think we need to speculate anymore! It is totally obvious what has transpired! Good work reporting that!
The filth that goes on at homosexual events in San Fransicko is so egregious. What ever happened to human decency in public? Apparently, the “special status” of these people trumps the obscenity laws. AWFUL!!
Hmmmm . . . mainly tumbleweeds here. I figured all the defenders of the Home Depot participation in gay pride events would have rushed to the defense of the people in the middle link.
Did something actually cross the line for them?
Would they be supportive of Home Depot sponsoring the event in the pictures and having a booth for kids?
If not, does that make them raging bigoted homophobes?
Certainly it crossed the line for me. I’m not in favour of sexual acts or nudity on public streets. For me, the fact that they are homosexual is irrelevant. So no, I would not support the Home Depot in sponsoring that event.
Gay pride events do not include sidewalk sex, in my experience.
Thanks for responding.
I did notice in the photos some raging heterosexuals, no kids, no corporate sponsorship, and the photographer’s obsession with one particular sex act. And kids could freely access the website. Of course children shouldn’t see that. Nor should adults being doing that in public spaces. But chronicling a small fringe within a small fringe and claiming this is what happens at Gay Pride events is a bit disingenuous. It’d be like going to a dirty video convention or the French Quarter during Mardi Gras and saying this is how mainstream folk behave regarding sex.
You sound kinda preachy. Seems like a peculiar time to pull up the drawbridge. Who are you to say they did anything wrong?
And who says that is a small fringe within a small fringe?
Go search their site and see what else you find. And spend some time at http://www.massresistance.org/ as well.
I thought only Liberals used that kind of argument to present their case.
Well, I’ve actually spent time with gay people and even let them eat at my table and attend any number of events sponsored by people who happened to be gay. I’ve even heard Peter LaBarbera speak in DC and mainly what he focused on was how gay people engage in particular sex acts and how allowing that to happen was wrong. I have a tendency to try to go straight to the source to get my information as opposed to relying on any internet website (lib or conserve) tell me what to think.
Nice dodge.
And gee, I’ve never met any gay people / sarcasm
Eat at your table? They eat like the rest of us? I assume you provide them a locker to store their sex toys while they ate.
I don’t understand how that is a dodge. Is it a dodge only because I’ve formed an opinion contrary to yours? I’ve seen those websites, listened to the head of AFTAH and gone to numerous pride events and drawn my own conclusions, which is being gay is not a sin and that most gay people are more concerned about paying the bills and finding love and leading decent lives and not about having sex in public spaces.
And another thing. I am sick and tired of the Royals occupying the cellar in the AL Central.
OK I definitely can’t help you there! If I actually followed that sort of thing I’d guess the Astros were just as bad.
What, we have to disagree on baseball too? I guess not following it is ok. Well, at least the Astros been to the World Series in the last decade. And the Rangers have a shot at the playoffs. I’m convinced the apocalypse is around the corner if they won the WS.
Pax,
Jeff.
I’m actually not an Astros fan (unless they are in the WS, in which case the sound you just heard was me jumping on the bandwagon).
If I have to pick a team it would be the Dodgers, but I haven’t watched one of their games since the Kirk Gibson series.
