Soul mates? Apparently not.

MomLovesBeingAtHome has a great post (Adultery – it leads to disaster) that reminded me of one of my least favorite terms: Soul mates.  Go read her post about the warning signs.  It is important to know that you can cross the line long before a relationship gets physical.

I’ve heard people rationalize divorce and remarriage because they supposedly found their soul mate or true love.  That handy bit of rationalization conveniently ignores the concept of commitment and is wildly irrational.  After all, if they haven’t screened all the people on the planet then how do they know there isn’t an even better soul mate around the corner?

As she notes, those who do marry the “forbidden lover” get divorced again quite often.  I actually feel sad for them: One day they’ll wake up and realize they married someone who left their last spouse when things got difficult or dull — forgetting that they did the same thing.

We know a woman who did just that, leaving a long term marriage with three children to marry a guy who abandoned his wife of 18 years.  A few years later they are getting divorced, leading to more carnage for everyone involved.  Turns out they weren’t soul mates after all.

As always, forgiveness and healing is possible in Jesus.  This isn’t to pick on people who have made mistakes, but to provide a warning against highly destructive behaviors.  Heed the signs and stay committed for life.  It is a great formula.

And be sure to read MLBH’s follow up, How to reduce the risk of adultery.

I like my new iPod Nano a lot, though I was taken aback by the age range selections when completing the registration.  I was in the 45-54 category.  What’s up with that?  I’m only 46 . . . why would they lump me with 54 year olds?  Nothing personal, 54-ish types.

I was hoping the new Nanos would hold 32 GB so I could sync my whole library with it, but it is only 16 GB.  But the new iTunes has much better sync capabilities and you can tell it which playlists, genres or artists to sync.

Wow, what a turnout for the march on Washington.  I didn’t even know a march was scheduled.  Numbers were all over, but it sounds like over 1 million attended.  Of course, they don’t count, because they are crazy wackjob extremists who don’t represent America — but if a fraction of that figure on the Left protested it would have been considered mainstream USA.

I am so grateful for the existence of the Internet.  Yes, there is a lot of garbage and falsehoods, but there are so many sources of information that with just a little time you can determine who is reliable.

Instead of realizing how foolish they look by being so biased, the MSM appears to be getting even biased.  Witness the Van Jones and ACORN stories, for example.  It was as if they thought that if they didn’t report it then it wasn’t happening.  Very Homer Simpson-like.

Consider the lack of reporting by the MSM on these big stories:

How about the New York Times and the Washington Post?  Neither newspaper reported on Van Jones’ Trutherism until an embarrassed White House pushed Jones out the door, leaving them to explain to their readers why a high-ranking Presidential adviser quit — and why they hadn’t mentioned the scandal that forced the issue until that moment.

And then we have potentially the largest march ever, with much less fanfare than, say, the Million Man March, and the media says that “tens of thousands” attended.  Technically, they are right.  Then again, they could have said that “dozens” attended and been correct as well — eighty three thousand dozen, that is.

Can someone explain to me why Charlie Rangel is still in Congress, let alone a free man?

Yet Rangel refuses to step down, won’t even apologize for his tax wrongdoings, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to back him.

As a reminder of what Rangel should apologize for, here are a few assets Rangel has failed to disclose, which violate tax and Congressional rules:

  • A Merrill Lynch Global account worth between $250,000 and $500,000
  • Tens of thousands of dollars in municipal bonds
  • Between $30,000 and $100,000 in rent from a building he owned in New York
  • A checking account worth between $250,0000 and $500,000
  • Three vacant lots in New Jersey valued between $1,000 and $15,000
  • Stock in PepsiCo worth between $15,000 and $50,000
  • $10,000 in back taxes from rental income from a villa in the Dominican Republic.

Clearly, this is a broad range of disclosures, or lack thereof. And while everyone makes mistakes, this is an egregious list of violations that have been known about for a year now.

OK, I admit it. Even though dogs are far superior to cats, I do like the icanhascheezburger site and subscribe to it in my blog reader. They even have a few non-cat pictures.

Maybe the system can work

See Hot Air » Blog Archive » Breaking: Senate votes to cut off federal funding for ACORN – Many Senators changed their votes from supporting ACORN funding to opposing it when they realized they were going to lose.

Who can blame them?  Who wants to be on the side of a group that has been nailed to the wall at least three times the way ACORN has?

Will the House follow suit?  It will be a victory for conservatives either way.  ACORN will be de-funded or the Republicans will have a great campaign issue for a long time.

Now if they would just vote to cut off Planned Parenthood for their serial hiding of statutory rape (oh, and for being the nation’s largest abortion provider) we’d really be making progress.

The Bible unplugged

Study Bibles, sermons, commentaries and Podcast lessons have been invaluable to me in understanding the Bible, but I still find value in just reading it without notes and such.  That’s a pretty unoriginal thought, I suppose, but it is easy to get in the habit of reading about the Bible and not just reading the Bible.

When I was a kid my mind just shut off as soon as I’d start reading the King James version (though I can’t blame the version . . . it would have shut off to just about anything biblical).  As an adult I find versions like the NIV more understandable and benefited greatly when people would read notes from their study Bibles to explain things.  It was like, “Oh good, Cliff’s Notes for the Bible!”  My Life Application Bible really helped me put things together as I read through the Bible the first time.

I also like just listening to the Bible sometimes (get a free audio version of the New Testament here.  Redeem your commute!).  The first time I did this all the way through I picked up on lots of things that I’d apparently glossed over when reading it, such as the particulars of the witch of Endor story.  I’d think, “Did the Bible really say that?”  I went home to check it out, and sure enough, the audio version was accurate.

Lately I’m into just reading as much of it as I can and letting it interpret itself.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Isaiah 55:10-11 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Just read it.

More sounds of silence

I was eager to see the pro-abortion bloggers rail against this murderer, but it hasn’t happened: Pro-abortion shooter murders two pro-lifers, pro-abortion groups silent « Wintery Knight Blog.  They boo-hoo’d over the death of their hero George Tiller, but are strangely silent on this one (except for the commenters who are rejoicing that a pro-lifer was murdered).  Doesn’t this lone gunman represent all the pro-choicers?  Didn’t their hateful rhetoric lead to this murder?

[crickets]

These good “Christian” folks are too busy lamenting the “wackjob” citizens with only “hate and fear” to offer who had the nerve to exercise their First Amendment rights, unlike the universally peaceful Liberals making bomb threats

It is amusing watching the childish name calling by Liberals who will do and say almost anything to avoid talking about the content of the issues.

I’m really encouraged to see Obama uniting the country — though in ways he never dreamed of.  I didn’t even realize there was a big rally going on this weekend (contrary to what the Stereotype Land folks believe I don’t listen to Rush or watch Beck, though I have nothing against their shows).  Yet look how many attended.  The numbers are all over the place, but it was certainly a massive turnout.

Retail Health Clinics: The Free Market is Bending the Cost Curve – here’s another example of simple health care “reforms” that can cut costs and improve services for everyone.  We have used these clinics for minor issues many times, either at a free standing location or one in a local grocery store.  They are a huge benefit, especially at night and on weekends.  Otherwise, you need to wait until Monday and try to squeeze in to see your regular doctor.

They cost us a few $ more than the typical doctor visit co-pay, but overall (including the employer’s costs) they are less expensive than a visit to the doctor’s office and way less expensive than an emergency room visit.  But it is worth it to use for the convenience and time savings.  And for simple diagnoses they make a lot of sense.

Also, many people would lose pay when they have to take off from work to visit the doctor, so it is cost effective for them as well.

This is just another example where the free market can offer solutions that save everyone time and money while providing a better service experience — all without the “help” of the government.

Via The Weekly Standard – Van JonesThe Name That Mustn’t Be Spoken in the White House Briefing Room

At the White House press briefing today, Robert Gibbs didn’t field a single question about the avowed communist/black nationalist/cop-killer supporter/9-11 Truther Van Jones, who resigned from his White House post shortly after 12:00 a.m. Sunday. In fact, a search for the name “Van Jones” doesn’t turn up a single result in the White House press briefing transcripts.

. . .

The White House threw one of its own under the bus in the middle of the night so it wouldn’t have to answer these questions in broad daylight. It seems that the media are more than happy to play along with the administration.

In the interest of fair and balanced reporting on imploding politicians — here’s a good comment on Mike Duvall, a former California politician:

What’s up with stupid Republicans? Having an affair is stupid enough. Bragging about having an affair is stupid on steroids. Bragging about having an affair, resigning from office, and then claiming you just made it all up — dude, we need to invent a who new word to describe such extreme stupidity.

Good post showing how some critics of the Duggars are vile and shrill.  I don’t follow the Duggars closely, but why would it be my business to tell them how many children to have?  And for those who say that they have “too many,” which ones do you propose that we eliminate?

Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist (“the spirit of the time”) is the name of a popular online video that claims that Christianity is founded upon themes borrowed from other religions.  When you dig into the specific assertions it fails miserably.  Here’s an overview from a good site and one of the examples of transparently bad reasoning the movie uses:

Zeitgeist (a German phrase that means “the spirit of the age”) is the name of an online video (first released in June 2007) that is making quite an impact on its viewers. In this video, Peter Joseph, the writer and director, seeks to persuade his viewers that the authors of the New Testament borrowed the idea of Jesus’ virgin birth, December 25th birth date, twelve disciples, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection from astrological sources and ancient pagan mystery religions that were around long before the time of Christ. The video even goes so far as to claim that Jesus never existed. Well, these claims are so outrageous, we’re glad you’ve taken the time to investigate them for, as you will see shortly, there is an abundance of evidence that Peter Joseph has greatly erred in his claims.

Here’s one of the simplest claims to debunk.  It is telling that they got something wrong that is so simple to refute.  Did the filmmakers know it was false and put it in there dishonestly or were they that ignorant of the truth?

CLAIM 4: THE DECEMBER 25 DATE WAS STOLEN

RESPONSE: Charlie Campbell says, “Another pitiful criticism put forth in the movie Zeitgeist is that the authors of the New Testament borrowed the December 25th date for Jesus’ birth from ancient pagan sources. This is ridiculous. Have the producers of Zeitgeist even read the New Testament? Where in the New Testament do we read of any date associated with the birth of Jesus? Nowhere! We have no idea when Jesus was born. The December 25 date originated long after the Gospels were written. Edwin Yamauchi, an author, professor, first rate historian and authority on the world of the first Christians, says that it was not until about 336 A.D. that the December 25 date became the official date to celebrate Jesus’ birth. The sheer absence of any date in the New Testament documents is sufficient enough to overturn Zeitgeist’s claim; Yamauchi’s word on the matter is another nail in the coffin.”

In my Copycats post I also addressed some of the fundamental flaws in the allegations that Christianity was founded based on borrowings from other religions.

Even Dear Abby has limits. Sort of.

But she can’t explain them.  At all.

I remember a column a few years back when Abby did some quick math and informed a girl that if she kept acquiring sexual partners at her current rate, then by the time she was 25 she will have had sex with 100 different men.  Abby thought that was too many, but was a little sheepish in saying so.  And I know why.

Now I think that most rational people would agree that 100 sex partners is too many for a lifetime, let alone a 25 year old.

Unfortunately, while Abby knew that 100 was too high she didn’t elaborate on what the proper limit was.  Abby certainly wasn’t limiting it to 1 partner — only one of those crazy right wing domestic terrorist Bible thumping abstinence promoting Christian freaks would suggest that.

But what is the proper limit?  Probably not 2, or 3.  Is it 90? 80? 50?

Hey Abby and other Planned Parenthood types who don’t think the ideal is just one: What is the limit, and why is that the limit?  If not 1, then why not 100?

Here are a few reasons you should not use:

  • Diseases — everyone knows they go up dramatically as you add partners, but they increase a bunch when you go from 1 to 2 as well.  If 100 partners is bad because of the risk of disease, then so is 2.  And the risk doesn’t increase that much when you go from 99 to 100.
  • Emotional attachment — again, if 100 would impact your ability to attach emotionally then so will 2.
  • Pregnancy — having sex 1 time with 100 different people is no more likely to result in pregnancy than 100 times with 1 person.  And we know that if you just do what Planned Parenthood says then you are very, very unlikely to get pregnant, right?!

In short, you need to explain why there would be a specific limit other than 1.

Theological Liberals should also explain why breaking God’s laws for human sexuality is acceptable before marriage, and why if your partner breaks them before the marriage you can still trust that he/she will follow them afterwards.

I’m sticking with a target of 1 per person per life — other than death of a spouse or a biblical divorce (e.g., abandonment or adultery by your spouse).  I’ve got a bunch of reasons for why that is the ideal — no risk of diseases, built-in male and female parents if you have kids (go figure, and what a convenience!), less stress, more confidence in your relationship, it is the loving thing to do for your spouse, obeying what God says, and so much more.

—–

Another bad bit of reasoning by Dear Abby: She doesn’t recommend Crisis Pregnancy Centers because they “might” show pictures of abortions (I am not aware of centers which show pictures of abortions, but it may be possible.  CareNet pregnancy centers do not maintain any such images nor do they show them to clients).  And CPCs do a wide variety of amazing things to help women in their time of need.

So Abby basically says that showing the picture of an abortion is so bad that because someone might do it you should ignore the great things they offer women, but the abortion itself is morally acceptable.  Everybody got that?

—–

When you deny the obvious ideal of one man, one woman marriages for life and you ignore the scientific fact that life begins at conception, then you end up trying to support all sorts of bizarre and illogical ideas.  It must be exhausting propping up such a worldview.

Of course many people break these commands of God.  Jesus even noted that lust was akin to adultery, which pretty much convicts us all many times over.  The good news is that forgiveness is possible.  But in the mean time, what ideal are we aiming at?  The consequences are serious.  Countless ills of society can be traced to sexual sin and the breakdown of the family.  And people like Dear Abby are not helping.

UPDATED: I am really, really not making this up: ACORN Employees Attempt to Facilitate Child Prostitution, Tax Fraud

UPDATED: Just in case you thought this was an isolated case, be sure to read this.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Lila Rose did a fabulous job of getting lots of video of the “renegade” Planned Parenthood staffers who systematically and aggressively sought to cover up statutory rape.  But she didn’t publish the videos all at once.  With each one PP could try the “bad employee / volunteer” bit but that gets old after you see one after another.  I doubt that we’ve seen the last of ACORN issues like this.

Please keep in mind that President Obama is, in part, a product of ACORN and his “stimulus” plan sent them many millions of dollars.

Questions for the mainstream media and Liberals in general:

  • Why hasn’t the media picked up on this story?
  • Why didn’t the media investigate ACORN and Planned Parenthood themselves, if nothing else to “prove” what valuable and righteous organizations they are?

—–

You must watch the videos at ACORN Mob Attempts to Facilitate Child Prostitution, Tax Fraud to see what I mean.

These remind me of the audio and videos of Planned Parenthood hiding statutory rape.  By that I mean that they aren’t tenting their fingers like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons so you can tell they know what evil plans they are hatching.  They are doing the most spectacularly evil things so reflexively that they act as if it is just a normal occurrence.

Also, what type of press do you think this would get if this were a Republican supported operation relative to how the MSM will treat it?

Do you think people will hear about this and realize what a sham ACORN is?

Officials with the controversial community organizing group ACORN were secretly videotaped offering to assist two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute, encouraging them to lie to the Internal Revenue Service and providing guidance on how to claim underage girls from South America as dependents.

. . .

It gets worse…

The “pimp” later says that he and “Kenya” plan to bring up to 13 “very young” girls from El Salvador to work as prostitutes. Although an ACORN staffer points out their plans are illegal, she also suggests that the girls can be claimed as dependents.

“What if they are going to be making money because they are performing tricks too?” the pimp says.

“If they making money and they are underage, then you shouldn’t be letting anybody know anyway,” the ACORN staffer says, and laughs. “It’s illegal. So I am not hearing this, I am not hearing this. You talk too much. Don’t give up no information you’re not asked.”

ACORN is best known for its industrial scale voter fraud operations, but also had a key role in causing the current financial mess by extorting banks into giving home loans to people unlikely to pay them back. It has been entrusted with collecting census data that will advance the Democrats’ political objectives.

American Thinker wonders “why Attorney General Holder hasn’t managed to institute a RICO investigation against this multi-state criminal enterprise.” The answer of course is that his boss is a product of ACORN. Comrade Obama trained ACORN thugs and provided legal assistance for their shakedown operations. His ties to this organization are so tight that he used to be known as the Senator From ACORN.

Obama’s campaign paid ACORN $800,000 for its voter fraud activities, then tried to cover it up. But that’s chump change compared to what he’s funneling ACORN’s way now that he has the keys to the treasury. The bloated spending bill the media helped him pass off as a “stimulus package” included $billions for ACORN.

Book giveaway — Greg Koukl’s Tactics: A Game Plan For Discussing Your Christian Convictions

tacticsWelcome to new visitors!  Feel free to look around and leave a comment to enter

Just for fun and traffic, I’m having a book giveaway.  I’ve chosen Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing your Christian Convictions by Greg Koukl.

Drawing rules:

  • You can enter up to two times, once by posting a comment here and once for posting something on your blog linking back here (either or both).
  • Shipping to continental U.S. addresses only (sorry, Amazon Prime shipping doesn’t cover Alaska, Hawaii or International!)
  • I’ll coax one of the Ernst & Young auditors camped out at work to do the drawing if possible, otherwise it will be one of my dogs.  Or possibly me.  But it will be completely fair and random, I assure you.

Drawing will end at midnight EST on 9/20/2009.   Good luck!

Most importantly, why did I pick this book?  Stand to Reason is my favorite apologetics ministry.  They have a great balance of grace and truth, chock full of great bits of knowledge but just as much focus on an artful manner in which to convey that knowledge.  If you aren’t listening to their Podcast I encourage you to check it out.

The tactics aren’t manipulative.  They focus on asking questions and listening, so you are sure you aren’t misstating someone’s views and you know why they believe what they do.  Then you use questions to point out any flaws in their reasoning.  He coaches you on how to avoid “steamrollers” who are pushy and won’t listen to you.  He also provides many examples of logical fallacies you’ll encounter when talking with people about Christianity.

I’ve used these techniques a lot — mostly in person, because online I tend to take shortcuts and get too fact-heavy (not that I’m using a wise strategy in those cases).  These tactics have helped me navigate conversations with multiple people from virtually every religion, cult or non-religion (e.g., atheism) without starting any jihads.

Be sure to enter, but even if you don’t win I encourage you to read the book.  Perhaps I shouldn’t mention this, but the tactics would work for non-Christian convictions as well.  They are pretty universal.

Rep. Wilson’s outburst: Technically accurate, but rude and unproductive

Was President Obama distorting the truth in his speech?  Yes, over and over — so badly that even the AP did some real live journalism and highlighted what Obama had to have known was false.  It was one partial truth after another.  Yes, the bill doesn’t have the words “death panels” but the concept is there.  Same thing for the abortion, illegal alien and other hot topics.

President Barack Obama used only-in-Washington accounting Wednesday when he promised to overhaul the nation’s health care system without adding “one dime” to the deficit. By conventional arithmetic, Democratic plans would drive up the deficit by billions of dollars.

The president’s speech to Congress contained a variety of oversimplifications and omissions in laying out what he wants to do about health insurance.

OBAMA: “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits either now or in the future. Period.”

THE FACTS: …The long-term prognosis for costs of the health care legislation has not been good.

OBAMA: “Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have.”

THE FACTS: …The Congressional Budget Office analyzed the health care bill written by House Democrats and said that by 2016 some 3 million people who now have employer-based care would lose it…

OBAMA: “Don’t pay attention to those scary stories about how your benefits will be cut. … That will never happen on my watch. I will protect Medicare.”

THE FACTS: Obama and congressional Democrats want to pay for their health care plans in part by reducing Medicare payments to providers by more than $500 billion over 10 years…

So I can see why Wilson would have been frustrated and wanted to yell out, “You lie.”  But I was glad to see that he apologized.  There is a time and a place for such things and that is not a good precedent to set.  A little self control is in order.

Oh, and here’s a friendly reminder of an example of what Democrats did to President Bush.  Maybe they apologized afterwards for the catcalls about his indisputably true statements.

Memorizing Bible verses

bible3.jpgPsalm 119:9, 11 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Memorizing verses may sound like an endeavor just for young children, but it is valuable for us all. It helps us know God’s Word better, counter temptation, have ready answers, and more. How did Jesus respond to Satan’s temptations? With scripture.

I used to think I couldn’t memorize scriptures, but I finally realized I just wasn’t trying very hard. Here are some tips:

  • Try to memorize 1-2 verses per week.
  • Use them!
  • Meditate on the meaning of the verses (be sure to understand their context from the passages around them).
  • Find verses that have special meaning to you.
  • Be sure to refresh yourself now and then or you’ll forget them.
  • Try the Topical Memory System. It includes little cards with verses on them.

Methods – pick the one that works for you (or more than one)

  • Write them out several times
  • Record them and listen to them in your car or elsewhere
  • Read one every time you get in the car (or before bed, etc.)

What worked best for me was when I recorded them as individual .mp3 files then listened to them over and over when driving, mowing the lawn, jogging, etc. I would listen to one several times then repeat it. After doing this for a few days I had it memorized.

Here are files of my favorite verses in both Microsoft Word & Excel.

Do you need to memorize the book, chapter and verse?  Those are helpful, but the key is to memorize the words themselves (or accurate paraphrases).  Remember, the chapters and verses weren’t in the originals.  When Jesus quoted the Old Testament, which He did a lot (~10% of the “red letters” were “black letters”) and Paul, Peter and others as well, they didn’t even mention the authors (at least none come to mind).

God sanctifies us and transforms us via his word:

John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Innovative health care reforms shut down by the government

As I’ve said before, if you think you have a plan that optimizes the common welfare by modifying insurance legislation, then put it up for honest debate. Just don’t call it charity or invoke the name of Jesus in doing so, and don’t make it a false dichotomy of supporting Obama vs. being a greedy bastard.

And keep in mind that there are many ways we could improve health care in this country without handing it over to the government, paying for abortions and more.

Here’s an example. As outlined at Right Klik: Health Care Pain? Government IS The Problem.  Go read it all.

Innovative people can always find a solution. The government can always find a way to interfere. Here’s a perfect example from the New York Post:

The state is trying to shut down a New York City doctor’s ambitious plan to treat uninsured patients for around $1,000 a year.

Dr. John Muney offers his patients everything from mammograms to mole removal at his AMG Medical Group clinics, which operate in all five boroughs.

“I’m trying to help uninsured people here,” he said.

His patients agree to pay $79 a month for a year in return for unlimited office visits with a $10 co-pay.

Great idea! The patients were happy, the doctor was happy, everybody was happy, but…

[His] plan landed him in the crosshairs of the state Insurance Department, which ordered him to drop his fixed-rate plan – which it claims is equivalent to an insurance policy.

Holy, Holy, Holy

Even in my uber-pagan younger years I loved this hymn.  Trivia fact: The only attribute of God repeated three times in the Bible is Holy.

Isaiah 6:3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

The longer I know him the more Holy is realize He is the and more un-holy I am.

What are your favorite hymns?

A great response to the Mormon claim that Christianity must be false because it has so many sects (Short version: The LDS religion has many  divisions as well).  Also keep in mind that Mormonism is less than 200 years old and largely localized in the U.S., so they’ve had a lot of divisions, relatively speaking.

Free advice: Be sure to enunciate when speaking of Mormon sects, Christian sects or any other sects.  I was speaking too quickly in Sunday School once when talking about Hindu sects and got some strange looks.

Climate Science: The Devil’s In the Details (Which Apparently No Longer Exist) – I am not making this up.  Hat tip: LCB

Raw data? Oh, I’m sure it’s here somewhere. Maybe I left it in my other backpack … yeah, that’s the ticket, my other backpack …

And of course, from the same folks that bring you the tautology of Darwinian evolution, global cooling is evidence of global warming.  And it is definitely man-made, and the only solution is to give much more power to the government, forever.

Obama’s dog didn’t bark — As I’ve pointed out separately, if the ObamaCare bill doesn’t cover abortions — and he insists that it doesn’t — why aren’t the pro-aborts “barking?”  They are huge supporters of the bill, but if it didn’t include abortion they’d be howling against it, and under no circumstances would they support it.

If the pro-aborts like Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards were silent on the bill it would be obvious enough that it includes abortion, but they are aggressively lobbying for it.

Now, someone try to convince me that Obama & Co. don’t plan to use the bill to cover abortions, and that they aren’t lying about it.  Go ahead.  Convince me.

Hat tip: Randy

www.BarackObama.com, the web site that surely seeks to be bipartisan and unite us all, considers many of us here, including me, to be right wing domestic terrorists.  These people are beyond hyperbole.  And they think we’re nuts for being concerned about the President writing curriculum for all the public schools?!

Heh.

Warning: Blatant self promotion coming up.

The Wintery Knight, one of my top 5 favorite blogs (maybe top 3), linked to a post of mine and noted this:

NOTE: Comments will be strictly filtered for this post. Neil is a lot more lenient than I am, so you may want to comment on his site instead if you think your comment is too harsh.

Everyone be sure to remember that Neil is lenient in his commenting policy.

But wait, that isn’t what one of my SuperFans (TM) says:

but we do know that Simpson won’t allow contrary opinions at his blog, especially if they show him to be incontrovertibly in error.

No contrary opinions?  That is far beyond a mistake for a guy obsessed with my posts and comment threads.  When I called him on it he said this:

No, Neil, I didn’t say you don’t allow any dissent. I said you especially don’t allow dissent that is clear, precise, and shows you definitely in the wrong.

Oddly, Ed wasn’t clear or precise enough to realize that his own comments in the same thread flatly contradicted his statement and proved that he was definitely in the wrong.

And that was quite an insult to Ryan, Racing Boo, Merkum, DJBA (when we disagree), Mizclark, Fox and more.  Seems that Ed doesn’t think you are very accurate commenters! I’d provide a link so you all could go whale on him, but I don’t feed trolls, I starve them.  More about Ed’s follies here.

Ah, the joys of blogging!
