When “pro-lifers” make pro-abortion arguments

Rachel Held Evans is a “progressive Christian” who argues for the anti-religious freedom aspects of Obamacare via Privilege and The Pill.  Along the way she makes several arguments on behalf of the pro-abortion lobby, such as this comment about when life begins:

Rabbit trail: The fact that a woman’s body naturally rejects hundreds of fertilized eggs in her lifetime raises some questions in my mind about where we draw the line regarding the personhood of a zygote. Do we count all those “natural abortions” as deaths? Did those zygotes have souls? Will I meet them in heaven? Honestly, the more I learn about the reproductive system, the harder it becomes for me to adamantly insist that I know for sure the exact moment when life begins. And it’s even harder for me to insist that everyone else agree.

But with arguments like that, “pro-lifers” like Held hand ammunition to the pro-abortion forces.  That’s a great argument, unless your opponent has the ability to see the difference between A and B:

A. Human being dies of natural causes (inside or outside the womb)

B. Human being has skull crushed and limbs ripped off by a 3rd party (inside or outside the womb)

In other words, deliberate abortions are vastly different than fertilized eggs dying of natural causes, just as murders are vastly different from grandma dying peacefully in her bed.

Held and Co. also ignore the scientific fact that the unborn are unique, living human beings from fertilization.  They have no excuse for missing that.

And even if we didn’t know when human life begins, shouldn’t we err on the side of life?  If you thought that what you are about to do might destroy an innocent human life, shouldn’t you stop what you are doing? The “we don’t know when life beings” fallacy naturally leads to abortion on demand at any stage of pregnancy.

She was also wrong about abortions and “morning after” pills:

Andrew Walker and I have published a response over at the First Things website, and we argue that her essay is mistaken on a number of levels. For instance, Evans denies that “morning-after” pills have an abortifacient mechanism. Yet somehow she misses that the FDA label on Plan B’s package says otherwise. But you don’t have to believe me. You can read the label for yourself. Notice the second sentence in bold underneath “Other information” . . .

The pro-life movement does not need any help from faux-lifers like Held who make the arguments of pro-abortionists for them.

The True Story of Christian Missionaries – Yes, there have been some misguided and even bad missionaries.  But on balance — and not surprisingly — they have done great good:

Areas where Protestant missionaries had a significant presence in the past are on average more economically developed today, with comparatively better health, lower infant mortality, lower corruption, greater literacy, higher educational attainment (especially for women), and more robust membership in nongovernmental associations.

. . .Woodberry applies this result specifically to missionaries who were “conversionary Protestants,” which he defines this way: “Conversionary Protestants (1) actively attempt to persuade others of their beliefs, (2) emphasize lay vernacular Bible reading, and (3) believe that grace/faith/choice saves people, not group membership or sacraments.”

Obama’s IRS Scandal Cover-Up – This should be front page news until it is fully investigated.  The media is complicit in this cover-up. The lack of attention and outrage just makes the Left that much more brazen.  This is far worse than Watergate.

120 EXhomosexual video testimonies – Don’t believe the “born that way” lies that even the experts on the Left know aren’t true.  There is hope.

In their own unscripted words, 120 men and women from all races, ethnicities and backgrounds tell of coming out of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgenderism. GCM Watch is committed to bringing you the good news of God’s amazing grace and his inclusive love that reaches out to bring out those in sexual darkness.

Cultural Diversity Coordinator Ran Phone Sex and Escort Services, Keeps Job – Diversity organizations are a joke.

Homosexual and Bisexual Men Account for 75 Percent of Syphilis Cases: CDC – The real rate is probably higher, as straight women who contract it from bi men aren’t counted in these figures.  This is taught in all the “comprehensive” sex ed classes in public schools, right?  In Orwellian fashion, the CDC blames it on “homophobia.”

Linda Harvey’s ‘Maybe He’s Not Gay’ Book Hits Home Run, Catches Homo-Activist Flak – The “born that way” lie — which even pro-gay “experts” know isn’t true — is the foundation of the movement.  Without that, everything else falls apart.  With it we will also get legalized pedophilia and polygamy.

When women lust

We all know that men struggle with lust. But what about women? While it’s becoming more common to hear of women’s struggles with pornography use, many women still perceive that they have the moral high ground over men. Such comparisons don’t help because men and women often struggle in different ways.

When a beautiful woman walks in the room or flashes on a screen or billboard, all eyes are transfixed. While men might be thinking about sex, a woman might be thinking, I wonder what it would be like to have such a body? Men want the body, women want the body. They want the body that attracts everyone. Lust can be either a strong feeling of sexual desire, or a strong desire for something.

We know when a man has sinned as he takes the body he wants through indulging in pornography or visiting a prostitute. But what does it look like for a woman to act out on her lust? She cannot take the body she desires to have, so what does she do? For the most part, her sin remains hidden. Still, there are some tell-tale signs of her sin, which I will describe in the first person because I struggle with this too.

How the Nazis mandated and used evolution and Darwin in the textbooks – Truths you’ll never hear from the Darwin lobby or at your local apostate church’s celebration of Darwin’s birthday.

The Nazi regime sought to influence young people via educational programmes and youth movements. The curriculum made connections between what was taught and its social and political implications. Darwinism was explicit, and the textbooks followed suit.

Atheism and fatherlessness (or bad fathers) – what a sad correlation.  Here are just a few people who took their misery and aggressively shared it with others.  The correlation of bad/absent fathers with the radical feminists is similar.

  • Voltaire(1694–1778): This biting critic of religion, though not an atheist, strongly rejected his father and rejected his birth name of Francois-Marie Arouet.
  • David Hume(1711–76): The father of this Scottish skeptic died when Hume was only 2 years old. Hume’s biographers mention no relatives or family friends who could have served as father figures.
  • Baron d’Holbach(1723–89): This French atheist became an orphan at age 13 and lived with his uncle.
  • Ludwig Feuerbach (1804–72): At age 13, his father left his family and took up living with another woman in a different town.
  • Karl Marx(1818–83): Marx’s father, a Jew, converted to being a Lutheran under pressure — not out of any religious conviction. Marx, therefore, did not respect his father.
  • Friedrich Nietzsche(1844–1900): He was 4 when he lost his father.
  • Sigmund Freud(1856–1939): His father, Jacob, was a great disappointment to him; his father was passive and weak. Freud also mentioned that his father was a sexual pervert and that his children suffered for it.
  • Bertrand Russell(1872–1970): His father died when he was 4.
  • Albert Camus(1913–60): His father died when he was 1 year old, and in his autobiographical novel The First Man, his father is the central figure preoccupation of his work.
  • Jean-Paul Sartre(1905–80): The famous existentialist’s father died before he was born.12
  • Madeleine Murray-O’Hair (1919–95): She hated her father and even tried to kill him with a butcher knife.

Q. If Obama likes abortion so much, why won’t he say the word?

A. Because deep down we all know it is murder.

From his recent statement celebrating the Roe v. Wade verdict that has led to the slaughter of 57 million innocent but unwanted human beings.  Count how many times he says the A-word (hint: zero).

Today, as we reflect on the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, we recommit ourselves to the decision’s guiding principle: that every woman should be able to make her own choices about her body and her health.

That commits the most common pro-abortion fallacy, which is ignoring the unwanted human being killed during the procedure.  What about her choices, her body and her health?

We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care and her constitutional right to privacy, including the right to reproductive freedom.

Never let them get away with the Orwellian term reproductive freedom.  It is a scientific fact that a new human being is created at fertilization, so all abortions kill human beings who have already reproduced.

And we resolve to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, support maternal and child health, and continue to build safe and healthy communities for all our children.

If you really want safe communities for children you should stop killing them.  Make abortion illegal and you’ll cut down on a few million murders per year.

Because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.

Everyone?  How about the unborn?  It takes a special kind of evil for him to say that while fulfilling the Democrats’ dream of increased abortions via taxpayer funding and no restrictions.  From their platform:

The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.

How to make accountability work — a great summary of how to have productive accountability groups.

Accountability Is… Accountability Is Not…
1. Effective accountability does not rely exclusively on accountability. …one weapon among many. …the only weapon in the fight against sin.
2. Effective accountability is involved early rather than late. …calling out for help in the moment of temptation andbefore you sin. …delayed confession—the regular reporting of sins already committed.1
3. Effective accountability involves someone with maturity. …able to function best when it occurs under the leadership of someone who has a track record of victory over the sin in question. …going to work well if you are seeking accountability with someone who is struggling and sinning in the same area as you.2
4) Effective accountability involves someone with authority (Heb 13:17). …involving those who can speak with authority. It may also involve those who “…watch over you as those who must give an account.” …fighting on your own; by definition, accountability is not a solo effort.
5) Effective accountability should avoid explicit details (Eph 5:11-12). …describing sin and temptation in general terms with the goal of enabling your accountability person to help you best. …not a place where explicit details are shared; we must avoid fueling further temptation.
6) Effective accountability places the responsibility for confession on the person with the problem. …full and free confession without prompting, pushing or demands for honesty. …going repeatedly through a list of questions without making honest and up-front confession of a particular sin.3
7) Effective accountability must actually hold people accountable. …being actively involved in the life of another Christian with regular and caring communication.4 …simply the commitment to meet regularly and work through a list of questions.

Good pro-life news from Kenya

Abortion is the worst export from the West.  Thankfully, many countries are resisting this evil.  I have a real heart for Kenya after five mission trips and numerous dear friends there, so I was glad to see this: Kenya Pro-Lifers Defeat Western Effort to Expand Abortion.

When Kenyans voted on a new constitution in 2010, a massive publicity campaign – heavily funded by the Obama administration – assured voters it would not legalize abortion. In fact, “Life begins at conception” is in the constitution.

But the Constitution also allowed abortion in certain circumstances. Pro-lifers warned there would be more to come.

Abortion proponents, including those from the United States and Europe, drafted a set of policies for the Kenyan Ministry of Health that would have imposed abortion on the Kenyan medical system. The policies were rejected this week, according to a source close to the effort. Pro-lifers now want Kenyan legislators to denounce the attempt to expand abortion through the Ministry of Health.

What is truly despicable is how the Left is so pro-abortion that they borrowed money from our grandchildren to try to increase abortions in Kenya.

During the referendum for Kenya’s constitution, the Obama administration spent $18 million and directed U.S. personnel, including Peace Corp volunteers, to campaign for it. President Obama would visit Kenya, it was promised, if they passed the Constitution but he never did.

That’s what you should expect from a political party that is so pro-abortion that they want to increase abortions by removing restrictions and requiring taxpayer-funded abortions.  From the Democrats’ platform:

The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.

If you voted for Obama and other Democrats then you are part of the problem.  Please reconsider your views.

Spotting false teachers based on what they preached about today

I’m not a fan of letting Hallmark tell churches what to preach about (i.e., Mother’s Day / Father’s day sermons).  Just preach the word and the right themes in the right balance will come through.  But I certainly don’t object to anti-abortion sermons on Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.  The don’t murder / help the weak / forgiveness is possible themes are throughout scripture and are legitimate topics any day.  Taking a human life without adequate justification kills God in effigy and attempts to usurp his role as the author of life.  People who have been involved in the abortion process need to hear the good news that they can be forgiven for those deeds.  And we should always strive to help the “least of these” (and if the unborn about to be killed aren’t the least of these, then who could be?).

Not surprisingly, pro-abortion false teachers not only skip the Sanctity of Human Life Sunday theme, they worship man instead of God by preaching about Martin Luther King Jr. instead of Jesus.  Here’s a prime example by pervertedradical pro-abortionist, false teaching, race-baiting Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” CurrieAnswering The Call: A Homily For MLK Sunday On Isaiah 49:1-7.  They didn’t worship Jesus (they never do), they worshiped MLK.  Did he do some good things?  Sure.  But he also did some very bad things.  And either way, he should not be the object of worship.  (Then again, neither should Charles Darwin, who the wolves also worship on an annual basis.)

Of course, Chuck left out the fact that King thought homosexuals could and should change.  The Left is busy trying to pretend that King would have changed his mind.  Isn’t that a great way to do history?!

Here’s a sample (you can go to his blog and see the program that actually had a picture of MLK).

In churches and synagogues and mosques…in schools and our houses of government…in community centers and union halls…the people of our nation gather this weekend to honor once again the legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

No, in real churches we gathered to worship Jesus.  My pastor had a fantastic sermon on Hebrews 10 this morning.

And who cares what they do in mosques and synagogues?  Oh, right, Chuck spreads the lie that all religions lead to God, in direct contradiction to what the Bible says over 100 times.

. . . Leading a non-violent revolution of social change, his words shaped the history of our time.  The walls of white supremacy could not withstand the reading of the Gospel message when preached by Dr. King.  Jim Crow, so powerful and full of pride, crumbled when confronted with the weapon of love unleashed by Dr. King and all those who participated in the civil rights movement.

King would probably never stop throwing up if he knew what wolves like Currie had done to make abortions legal.  Despite what Currie has falsely claimed, King never supported abortion, which kills blacks at a rate three times that of whites.  And that rate will go up if Currie’s dream of unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortions becomes real.  Rich, mostly white, mostly male abortionists kill more blacks in a week than the KKK ever dreamed of.  As morally reprehensible as they are, the KKK is pro-life, so they are better than people like Currie.

. . . Those who are called to prophetic ministry often run from the task.  Moses did.  He argued with God.  I think you have the wrong person, he said.  There must be someone better.  Jesus himself was burdened deeply by his calling.  Like King, he knew his path would end in death.  At times he became frustrated and other times required solitude for reflection.

That would be funny if it weren’t so blasphemous.  Only a fake like Chuck would say that Jesus ran from his task.  Jesus was fully God and fully man.

Even if we are not called to be a Moses or a King we are still called to be followers of Jesus.

Chuck’s Jesus is not the real Jesus.

. . . We still need that sense of revolution today.  Some use that term and think of violence but we are called to non-violence.

Chuck & Co. are pro-abortion, the ultimate violence.

We need to be revolutionaries to make sure that everyone is free.  We know this is not the case.  The very voting rights that Dr. King fought for are under attack.

That is a lie.  Voter ID is one of the most common sense measures of all time.

Gun violence and domestic violence and political violence threaten too many the world over.

Especially in places with Leftist politicians putting restrictions on guns.

People are enslaved by poverty the world over.  Climate change threatens existence.

Another lie.  What really threatens existence is abortions, to the tune of 3,000+ per day in the U.S.

. . . At the same time, all of us should examine how we are living our lives.  Do our lives in this moment of history serve God fully?  If not, what changes can we make in what we do and how we act to better live out our Christian faith.

Maybe Chuck could start with not taking taking little girls to gay pride parades.

The only good news is that based on the pictures Chuck shows of his combined churches, there appear to be a couple dozen very old people attending.  Hopefully the UCC will continue to shrink (must be the ejector seats!).

Praise God that there are real churches for people authentically seeking Jesus and the Gospel!

P.S. Via An Addendum to my Pastor’s Sermon Today:

Despite the enormous work Martin Luther King Jr. did to free African-Americans, black babies are being murdered at an alarming rate under the guise of freedom.  Abortion is the number one killer of African-Americans.  I believe The Radiance Foundation puts it best when they say, “The inhumanity of slavery has been replaced by the inhumanity of abortion.”  79% of Planned Parenthood facilities are located in minority neighborhoods.

Two questions to ask those upset about the 15 minutes it took to kill a convicted murderer

While conceding that capital punishments don’t need to take longer than necessary, there are a couple questions you can ask those upset about the 15 minutes it took for a murderer in Ohio to die.  First, a little background via Media Goes Crazy After Pregnant Woman’s Killer Executed, Ignores Abortion:

Last night by lethal injection of “untested drugs”, Ohio executed the brutal thug who, in 1989, raped and stabbed to death expectant mother Joy Stewart.

Naturally, the left wing advocacy media wants to let people know inhumane and cruel they believe it was by giving a play by play of what the killer went through in his final moments.   Examples of headlines, along with excerpts (bolded emphasis added by me):

AP - Executed Ohio killer Dennis McGuire took 15 minutes to die with never-before-tried drugs

LUCASVILLE, Ohio — A condemned Ohio inmate appeared to gasp several times and took more than 15 minutes to die Thursday as he was executed with a combination of drugs never before tried in the U.S. . . .

Here are the questions:

1. Are you familiar with the details of how he raped and killed the woman and her child?  (She was 8 months pregnant.).  It seems like it would have been newsworthy to include the reason he was being being to death.

2. Do you think people’s views on abortions would change if they were described in the same level of detail as the execution was?  Keep in mind that the unborn are completely innocent of any crimes, while this man raped and murdered a woman and her child.  Also keep in mind how they are killed — typically by having their skulls crushed and limbs ripped off, and how the pro-abortion lobby strenuously fights against anesthesia for the human beings killed in abortions.

Do false teachers ever get any verses right?

I ask that in all seriousness.  No matter how simple the passage, they always seem to miss the most obvious truths.  A recent example is from false teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie in Duck Dynasty Crew Invited To Church.*

No one should be using the name of the Prince of Peace to intentionally tear us apart.

But where does the name Prince of Peace come from?  This is the only reference in the Bible:

Isaiah 6:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Jesus came to bring peace between sinners and their God.  It wasn’t the kind of peace Chuck and other false teachers allude to.

And how can Chuck quote this verse while explicitly denying Jesus’ deity in this passage?  And to Chuck, this had to be a false prophecy, but he thinks Jesus is dead.  How could He then reign on the throne of David?  So why quote the prince of peace portion?

As usual, nearly every biblical reference that these wolves make is theological train wreck.

And even if the verse referred to the kind of peace Chuck thinks it does, how could a radical pro-abortionist like him use it with a straight face?  Crushing and dismembering innocent human beings is as opposite of that kind of peace as you can get, yet Chuck supports the Democrats’ official policy of unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortions.

Run, don’t walk, from false teachers like him.

* Of course, Chuck’s views on Phil Robertson are completely wrong as well. But that is to be expected, as Phil knows that the Bible is the word of God and Chuck thinks it isn’t.

Opposing late term abortions is good morality and good politics

Republican politicians have a bad habit of either ignoring abortion or saying stupid things about it.  I addressed easy ways to fix the stupid things problem in How pro-life apologetics–and a little common sense–could have swayed the elections.  But that was more about making proper arguments when asked about the issue.

But does that mean they should otherwise avoid the topic?  Not at all, especially when considering issues like late term abortions, where 70% of people agree with us.  Remember, the Democrats are on record as pro-abortion extremists.  I say that without hyperbole.  Taxpayer-funded late term abortions are right there in their platform:

The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.

Via A Winning Issue: Abortion and Pascal’s Wager, check out the impact of taking this issue on in Virginia, where Ken Cuccinelli found out too late how to take on Terry McAuliffe..

What moved the voters most was an attack on McAuliffe’s positions on abortion; a single phone message emphasizing McAuliffe’s support for unrestricted, late-term, and taxpayer-funded abortions shifted support a net 13 to 15 points away from McAuliffe and toward Cuccinelli. The cost per vote here was a remarkably cheap $0.50 per additional vote, and even less expensive still when targeting the most persuadable segment of the electorate.

. . .

Essentially, this paper presents the abortion issue as a political version of Pascal’s Wager. For a GOP candidate running for office and ignoring abortion is not possible. You have to decide to be either a sufficiently virulent variety pro-abort that makes it impossible for you to be attacked by Planned Parenthood or you have to be vocally pro-life and attack the issue head on.

The decision should be easy.  Abortion is criminal. There is no medical reason for abortion. Late term abortion is indistinguishable from infanticide. Abortion has nothing to do with women’s rights and everything to do with how we value the most vulnerable members of our society. Every culture that has embrace abortion has inevitably moved on to embraced post-partum infanticide and euthanasia.

There is no reason our candidates should refuse to take a stand against abortion, but especially against late term abortion. It is not only moral, it is good politics.

So be prepared with sound arguments and don’t avoid the topic!  Again, the Democrats are on record as pro-abortion extremists.  Republicans should remind people of that all day, every day.

P.S. Opposing all abortions is good morality and good politics as well, if you do it right.

Mark Driscoll’s Failed Publicity Stunt That Ended With Him Lying About What Really Happened – This guy gets more and more odd.

Inventing God – a great response to the atheist objection that people made up God to control people.  Just use the part in bold (emphasis added) if you hear that excuse.

From where I sit, there is no need to concoct a non-corporeal being who may, or may not, have the power to exact justice for wrong doing when there already exists the means to control behavior: the end of a sword, spear, or gun. Each is greatly more behaviorally corrective than a potential future in hell isn’t it? Threats of force: torture, bodily mutilation, and death, are reliable motivating tools to keep the masses in check.  As Calogero from A Bronx Tale said, “Your guy may be bigger than my guy up there, but my guy is bigger than your guy down here.”  For the most part, people are more motivated by what is immediately confronting them.  Threatening a person with future potential punishment is not as effective as an officer of authority standing before you with a weapon. This is real world provable. If you’re ever in the unfortunate predicament of being robbed at knife point, tell the robber he may end up in hell and observe his reaction. When he stops laughing, point a gun in his face and observe his change in behavior.

New study: school anti-bullying programs actually increase bullying – Not a big surprise.  All you need is a simple and thoroughly enforced anti-bullying policy: If you physically or verbally harass other students on or off school grounds you will have swift and serious consequences. It doesn’t matter if you are bullying because they are gay/straight/fat/thin/smart/dumb/pretty/ugly/etc., or if it is just because you are a mean jerk.

New CDC study: 62% of men who know they are HIV-positive have unprotected sex with men – Also not a big surprise.  What is also not a surprise is how the mainstream media ignores their pathology.  Seriously, if someone made you do the things that transmit HIV for gays wouldn’t you be begging for a dozen full-body condoms to wear?  Toilet paper is an enormous business for a reason.  But no amount of persuasion can get these gays to wear condoms even when they are likely to infect someone else with HIV.

Freakonomics’ double fail on abortion

Freakonomics Rev Ed: (and Other Riddles of Modern Life) is a fascinating book that makes a lot of valid and interesting points, but the authors had a double fail on the topic of abortion and crime.  (See the Amazon review at the bottom for more about the book, and also see their blog.)

First, while seeming to have cleverly uncovered the reason behind the dramatic 1990′s crime drop (they thought it was because Roe v Wade had reduced the number of potential murderers), it turns out that they missed some obvious race-based statistics and the impact of the crack cocaine explosion and recession.

Second, and more importantly, they ignored what abortion is: The unjustified destruction of an innocent human life, aka murder.  Yes, the Roe v Wade decision made it legal, but the act itself was unchanged.  So using their logic, if we legalized unjustified killings outside the womb then the murder rate would decrease.  Technically they would be right, but would that really be an improvement?

One of the charts from the book shows that by standard measures, homicides have gone down dramatically over the centuries and we are seemingly safer than ever.  And that is true — for those outside the womb.  But pre-born human beings inside the womb live in the most dangerous place on the planet — far more dangerous than a Chicago ghetto.

Simply put, even if the authors had been correct, murders outside the womb decreased because murders inside the womb were made legal. But that didn’t reduce overall murders, it increased them!  All they had done, ironically enough, was murder the future murderers before they murdered. Oh, and they also killed a bunch of non-murderers — tens of millions of them.  At least the book did get one thing right: Legalized abortion dramatically increased abortions.

This brings to mind Bill Bennett’s comments on this theory, when he noted that killing black babies would reduce crime while simultaneously noting how evil the abortions would be.  Of course, the Left still tried to brand his comments as racist, even though they are a mostly white group supporting mostly rich, white, male abortionists who kill black babies at a rate three times that of whites.  But they definitely aren’t racists . . .

All murder statistics should include abortions.  The real murder rate was decreasing until the 1970′s, when it spiked up dramatically.  We’ve just played word games to make it appear otherwise.

Amazon review:

Economics is not widely considered to be one of the sexier sciences. The annual Nobel Prize winner in that field never receives as much publicity as his or her compatriots in peace, literature, or physics. But if such slights are based on the notion that economics is dull, or that economists are concerned only with finance itself, Steven D. Levitt will change some minds. In Freakonomics (written with Stephen J. Dubner), Levitt argues that many apparent mysteries of everyday life don’t need to be so mysterious: they could be illuminated and made even more fascinating by asking the right questions and drawing connections. For example, Levitt traces the drop in violent crime rates to a drop in violent criminals and, digging further, to the Roe v. Wade decision that preempted the existence of some people who would be born to poverty and hardship. Elsewhere, by analyzing data gathered from inner-city Chicago drug-dealing gangs, Levitt outlines a corporate structure much like McDonald’s, where the top bosses make great money while scores of underlings make something below minimum wage. And in a section that may alarm or relieve worried parents, Levitt argues that parenting methods don’t really matter much and that a backyard swimming pool is much more dangerous than a gun. These enlightening chapters are separated by effusive passages from Dubner’s 2003 profile of Levitt in The New York Times Magazine, which led to the book being written. In a book filled with bold logic, such back-patting veers Freakonomics, however briefly, away from what Levitt actually has to say. Although maybe there’s a good economic reason for that too, and we’re just not getting it yet.

More on Facebook memes

Facebook memes can be clever and insightful, but often fallacious.  Even on the conservative side there are too many that just attempt to say “Obama is stupid” in a different way.  I find those pointless and counterproductive.  If your meme could be used by your ideological foes just by changing the names, then it proves nothing.

But the Liberal FB pages are true train wrecks of bad thinking.  Here are a few.  Feel free to borrow any of these responses without attribution.

The pictures didn’t paste properly for some reason, so I posted generic titles.

Memes that imply we are making “same-sex marriage” illegal.

The Bible doesn’t say that oxymoronic “same-sex marriage” should be illegal. It also doesn’t comment on square circles. Here’s what it does say: The Bible couldn’t be more clear. Bible-believing Christians and even two out of the three types of pro-gay people* (religious or not) can see these truths:

  • 100% of the verses addressing homosexual behavior describe it as sin in the clearest and strongest possible terms.
  • 100% of the verses referring to God’s ideal for marriage involve one man and one woman.
  • 100% of the verses referencing parenting involve moms and dads with unique roles (or at least a set of male and female parents guiding the children).
  • 0% of 31,173 Bible verses refer to homosexual behavior in a positive or even benign way or even hint at the acceptability of homosexual unions of any kind.

* The three general types of pro-gay theology people: 1. “The Bible says homosexuality is wrong but it isn’t the word of God” (obviously non-Christians) 2. “The Bible says it is wrong but God changed his mind and is only telling theological Liberals” (only about 10 things wrong with that) 3. “The Bible is the word of God but you are just misunderstanding it” (Uh, no, not really.)

The writer does not understand the 1st Amendment, which protects religious and political speech and does not restrict them. My religion also teaches me that you shouldn’t beat kill atheists and take their property. Using the logic of this meme, I must vote the opposite of that in the public square.

The writer also does not understand that we aren’t making “gay marriage” illegal, we are saying there are not good reasons to have the gov’t get involved in those unions.
There is no “right” to gov’t recognition of same-sex unions. Here’s why: 1. It is an oxymoron: “The same sex union of a man and a woman.” People have as much of a right to it as they do to a square circle. 2. By nature and design, homosexual couples can not produce children. 3. By nature and design, homosexual couples can never provide a mother and a father to a child, which is the obvious ideal whether you are religious or an atheist (there are no gay parents in Darwinian evolution). 4. Sexual behavior does not confer Civil Rights status.

Note that none of those reasons involve religious arguments, even though there is nothing wrong with letting our religious views inform our political views. If people want to know what Jesus thinks on the matter I’d be glad to tell them.

I anticipate several canards when addressing this topic, such as the “but they love each other” bit. Those arguments come from ignorance or disingenuousness. After all, no one — including all the Christians I know — is saying they can’t have relationships. Hey, they can go to any number of apostate churches and get “married.” The question is whether we want or need the government to regulate their relationships. We don’t.

What about hospital visitation, estate issues, etc.? They can be solved without changing the definition of marriage to “a union of any combination of things that we decide it to be.” For example, estate taxes are ghoulish and should be abandoned for everyone, not just gays (do you really want the gov’t to profit from your death?).

Memes asking why we kill to show that killing is wrong

Poor choice of words: It should read, why do we kill people to show that murder is wrong. Murder is killing without adequate justification.

My guess is that the author and most of the people who liked this support the Democrats’ official platform of unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortions, all of which kill innocent but unwanted human beings. Where is the righteous indignation over that? It is a scientific fact — and common sense — that a new human being is created at fertilization, and abortion kills those human beings.

—–
Memes that imply we are forcing religious beliefs on others
That is gibberish.  First, we can make arguments against killing unwanted human beings (abortion) and against oxymoronic “same-sex marriage” without religion (though there is nothing wrong with religious arguments).  Second, you don’t have a freedom to kill others just because they are small and in their mother’s womb (what about their freedoms?) and you don’t have a right to a square circle (i.e., “same-sex marriage”)

Anti-Wal Mart / anti-business memes

The owners of the company get the profits? Gee, when did that start? Their opponents are welcome to compete against Wal-Mart starting today.  They should quit complaining and start their own businesses! They’ll be superior employers, of course, and pay higher wages and benefits, so they’ll be able to take the best and brightest from those evil businesses. It will be a win-win — help the people and hurt your enemies, right?

Oh, but it will be hard work. Never mind..

Memes comparing the favorable definitions of Liberal with the unpleasant antonyms

The question is whether Liberals are really “liberal.” Tolerant? LOL. They are the most intolerant people I’ve seen. They fit the definition of bigot perfectly: big·ot – noun – a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.

Generous and charitable? Hardly. Conservatives give more time, money and even blood donations than Liberals and that politicians like Obama, Gore, Kennedy, etc. are notoriously cheap with their own wallets. http://spectator.org/archives/2008/06/06/liberal-scrooges

It isn’t giving when you ask the gov’t to take from your neighbor by force to give to someone else. That’s coveting.

And so on. That is why the term Leftist is much more accurate than Liberal.

The typical “shellfish argument” meme

Bible lessons from non-believers are always entertaining.  The shrimp / shellfish argument is full of holes but is appealing to many because so few bother to study the passages. I address five serious problems with it in flaws of the shellfish argument.   http://tinyurl.com/shellfishflaws

Memes pretending to know what Jesus is really like

Jesus is the “author of life” and does not support crushing and dismembering innocent but unwanted human beings.  He also defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman.  He is fully God and fully Man and the Bible turned out just as He wanted it to.

Generic memes implying we are anti-freedom for opposing government recognition of “same-sex marriage”

That’s a great pro-life slogan! You are right, we shouldn’t deny the right to life to the unborn just because they are unwanted.

Oh, wait, you were pretending that by not having the gov’t recognize same-sex unions that we are denying them the freedom to be together? That’s a lie. They can get “married” in all sorts of fake churches and live together and love whomever they like.

Memes saying how homosexuality is seen in nature / memes about “homophobia”
So you get your sexual ethics from animal behavior?  Male dogs will try to have sex with female dogs, male dogs, your coffee table, your leg, etc.  Remind me not to come to your house for dinner if that is your standard for sexual mores.

Many people play the fallacious “homophobia” card reflexively because so few call them on it.  If you really love people, you’ll tell them the truth.

“Homophobia” is a foolish pejorative manufactured to dismiss the legitimate claims of the opposing side.  After all, if your opponent is certifiably psychotic you don’t even have to respond to them.  Isn’t that convenient?!

The true homophobes are those who are so scared of the gay lobby and of being politically incorrect that they mock God, the Bible, natural law and common sense.   Verses about millstones, “woe to those who call evil good and good evil” and “I never knew you” come to mind.

Memes about what Jesus is “really” like

Hey, how about loving the neighbor in the womb?

If you love them, you’ll tell them the truth: They are sinners in need of Savior.  If they don’t repent and trust in the real Jesus then they will pay for their sins for eternity in Hell.

The meme pretending you are inconsistent if you are anti-abortion but aren’t spending equal time on the poor

That’s a false meme. Both are human beings, and I support laws preventing either from being crushed and dismembered because they are unwanted. I’m consistent. Pro-abortion Leftists are consistent as well — they aren’t helping either one.

You also falsely assume that if someone doesn’t fight every possible social ill with equal effort then it is bad on their part. That’s transparently false.

And studies show that by any measure — giving time, money or even blood donations — conservatives are more generous. They just don’t lobby Caesar to “give” your money and count it as a good deed on their part. See http://www.nationalreview.com/content/who-really-cares

Another item for the “I am not making this up” category

I was getting lots of links to this piece from a couple years ago so I thought I’d re-post it.  The moral schizophrenia of our society knows no bounds, as evidenced by the circumcisions are barbaric but abortions are fine positions of these folks on the Left.

Via Russell Crowe: Pro-abortion Foreskin Man, we have another person to add to the original post below (plus the pro-legalized abortion San Francisco folks wanting to ban circumcision).  These folks think it should it be against the law to cut away a tiny bit of flesh but completely legal to destroy the same human being.  Moral schizophrenia: They’re doin’ it right.

But then Crowe got stupid. His very next tweet, after “stand[ing] for the perfection of babies”?

The absurd illogic is almost too obvious to point out. But I must.

Removing a piece of skin the size of a postage stamp from a newborn baby is “barbaric and stupid,” the logic being that “[b]abies are perfect,” but suctioning that same baby’s brains out to kill him moments before birth is not, the logic being it’s “a woman’s choice”?

The “forced motherhood” line is an emotive canard used reflexively by pro-legalized abortionists.  They ignore the obvious fact that the woman is already “with child” — unless he thinks the government forced her to get pregnant.

I’ll bet that these people are pro-legalized partial-birth abortion, where they think it should be legal to stick a fork in the baby’s head when he is 90% delivered and suck his brains out, but would oppose the right to perform a circumcision at the same point and let him live.

Again, how can someone talk about and defend  the perfection of babies and then advocate abortion?  What a bizarre world.  Read more below about a guy who was really mad at his parents for having him circumcised as an infant but thought they should have had the right to kill him in the womb.

Original post

A commenter on at a post titled Why Pro-Choice is Losing held the following two views:

  • Strongly pro-legalized abortion
  • Strongly anti-circumcision

Here’s his comment (#54 at the link):

What do the anti-choice people in this thread propose to do to women who choose to have an abortion in the event it is made illegal? How do they propose to determine what pregnancies were purposely aborted and which ones were not? Will they put a gun to a woman’s head, force feed her, turn her into a human incubator, and force her to give birth to a child against her will? What would that do to a child who discovered he/she was brought into the world in such a fashion?

On a further note, I am circumcised and I wish that I wasn’t. In fact I feel extremely bitter against my parents every time I think about the fact that they chopped off a piece of my body against my will.

Think about that for a minute.  He wanted his mother to be able to have his whole body destroyed in the womb, but he is “extremely bitter” that a small piece was cut off outside the womb.

The circumcision, probably done within a week of his birth, was “against his will.”  But what about his will the week before when he was in his mother’s womb?

I wonder if he would have minded an in utero circumcision, since everything there is fair game?  The end state would have been the same for him, of course.

I hope his inconsistency makes him realize that regardless of how he feels about circumcision, abortion is a far worse thing to do to a human being.  If he had been aborted he wouldn’t be here to be “extremely bitter” about his circumcision.

From Hitler’s Wolves to Christ’s Lambs – The power of the Gospel, and how some Nazi’s became believers before they died.

Henry Gerecke was in his early 50s when he went, cell by cell, to introduce himself to his infamous “congregation” and to invite them to chapel services. Some refused, others wavered, and still others promised to be there. Of the 15 chairs set up for the first service, 13 of them were filled. Scriptures were read, sermons preached, hymns sung, prayers offered. And, through it all, hearts were changed.

Soon some of the very lips that had once barked, “Heil Hitler!” spoke a repentance-confessing, faith-affirming “Amen!” as they knelt to eat and drink the body and blood of their forgiving Lord. They expressed a desire for their children to be baptized. One of them, though he began reading the Bible to find justification for his unbelief, ended up being led to faith by the same divine words.

So reliant did these men become upon their pastor that, when a rumor surfaced that he might be relieved of his duty and allowed to return home, they wrote a letter to Mrs. Gerecke, begging her to ask him to stay. On that letter were the signatures of all these former Nazis, men who had enjoyed power and rank, now humbly beseeching a housewife in America, who had not seen her husband for two and a half years, to let him stay. In her brief reply, “They need you,” is packed a whole volume about sacrifice and love.

True Scandal

Pastor Gerecke’s story has already been told (see links below), but it deserves to be retold, again and again, to every generation, for two important reasons. The first has to do with the men to whom he ministered, the ones who repented and believed in Christ. The scandal of Christianity is not that these men went to heaven; it is that God loved them so much that he was willing to die to get them there. Had it been a human decision, many would have thrown these men, guilty of such atrocities, into the flames of hell.

. . .

Faithful Servant

Gerecke did not mince words, surrender his convictions, or water down the truth for them. On the evening before he was to be hanged, one of the men, Hermann Goering, asked to receive communion, just in case he was wrong and there was some truth to the Christian claims. But Gerecke refused to give communion to one who so obstinately refused repentance and treated the Lord’s Supper as if it were an edible, just-in-case, insurance policy.

Sexual Purity: 16 Things You Need to Know – read the link for descriptions.

1. Sex is good. God created it, God called it “good,” and it existed before there was any sin in the world.

2. Like all good gifts from God, sex can be misused and perverted.

3. The boundaries of sex are the boundaries of marriage.

4. Your sexual purity is essential to your walk with God.

5. You are vulnerable to sexual immorality.

6. You are targeted for sexual immorality.

7. Your body belongs to God, not you.

8. Sexual purity begins in the mind, not the body.

9. Since God doesn’t want you to have premarital sex, neither does He want you to do that which prepares your body for premarital sex.

10. Once you let your body cross the line, it will neither know nor care about your Christian convictions.

11. If you have sexual intimacy with someone outside marriage, you are stealing from God and the other person.

12. God has your best interests in mind when He tells you not to have premarital sex.

13. God would not tell you to abstain from impurity if it was impossible to obey him.

14. Satan will lie to you about sex, but Jesus tells you the truth.

15. You must learn to think long term, not short term.

16. If you’ve violated some of these guidelines, confess, repent and implement a plan to prevent future violations.

The historical case for the empty tomb of Jesus – Timeless truths.

Fact#3: The gospels record that the primary witnesses to the empty tomb were women

All four gospels (including John, who was almost certainly writing independently of the synoptic gospels) make women the first witnesses of the empty tomb, and Matthew and John make women the first witnesses of the risen Jesus. Male witnesses appear only later and in two of the Gospels. This is incompatible with a dishonest intention to write an untrue but convincing account, because of the lowly status of woman as witnesses in the ancient world.

Not even the mainstream media could keep people from having learned about the latest Islamic outreach initiative in Mullah Obama’s ancestral homeland Kenya:

Soldiers told of the horrific torture meted out by terrorists in the Nairobi mall massacre … with claims hostages were dismembered, had their eyes gouged out and were left hanging from hooks in the ceiling.

Men were said to have been castrated and had fingers removed with pliers before being blinded and hanged.

Children were found dead in the food court fridges with knives still embedded in their bodies, it was claimed.

A strategy for Christians who object to same-sex “weddings”… – Brilliant.  Wise as serpents, innocent as doves.

Of course, I will provide my stuff for your wedding. I serve, and am required to serve, everyone, whether or not I approve of what he is doing. However, you do understand that if I am at your so-called ‘wedding,’ I will consider it my duty to call attention to God’s view of what you are doing. I will consider it my obligation to warn the guests of the danger they are running and of the harm all of you are doing to your own lives as God observes them. So, I will be distributing literature that explains all this.

And I thank you for the opportunity to reach people who otherwise might never hear this message that I believe they desperately need to hear.

OK, why didn’t someone tell me about this before?!  I saw someone on Facebook use the term  “Liverals” (Low Information Voters).  Sweet.  (They said they sighted it first at the Veterans For Capitalism and The Constitution” Facebook page.)

I’ve been trying to use “Leftist” instead of “Liberal.”  Even though the collective ideas of Liberalism are ghoulish and false, Leftists actually consider the term Liberal to be a compliment.  So use Leftist or Liveral from now on.

Kirsten Powers: American churches silent as Christians in Middle East face persecution – This is a mystery.  We know why the media ignores the full-scale slaughter going on by Muslims, but why are the churches ignoring it?

Is Jesus Liberal or Conservative?  Great analysis.  While I’m not entirely comfortable putting political labels on Jesus, by any reasonable definition He is a conservative rather than a Liberal. When asked about marriage, He referred to Genesis 2. That’s pretty conservative. He doesn’t change. He is not only pro-life, He is the author of life. He said to give your money. He didn’t say to petition “Caesar” to take from neighbor A by force to redistribute to neighbor B and to call it “giving” on your part. And so on.

Let’s Put This One To Rest Please – Yes, Intelligent Design can make testable predictions and has shown its superiority to Darwinism.  Anyone saying otherwise is misinformed or lying.

“Darwinian hypotheses make testable predictions and ID hypotheses (so far) don’t.”

This statement is breathtakingly false. Let us take just one example. For years Darwinists touted “junk DNA” as not just any evidence but powerful, practically irrefutable evidence for the Darwinian hypothesis. ID proponents disagreed and argued that the evidence would ultimately demonstrate function.

Not only did both hypotheses make testable predictions, the Darwinist prediction turned out to be false and the ID prediction turned out to be confirmed.

Pope Pushes Unchristian Values, Calls Christianity “Nonsense” — With Pope Francis’ steady stream of transparently anti-biblical statements, Catholics have less and less excuses for their ignorance of what their church teaches!

Immediately after making a mockery of Jesus’ last command to us, Scalfari asked pope Frank

Your Holiness, is there is a single vision of the Good? And who decides what it is?

Of course in response the true Christian would quote Jesus:

And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:17)

Instead pope Frank chose to take the opposite route:

“Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is good.”

“Move toward what they think is good” are interesting words. Hopelessly weak and unbiblical, but interesting. Stalin, when he slaughtered 38,000,000 Ukrainians thought he was doing good.

Transgender operations account for high suicide rates – While the Left tries to say that Christians are to blame because they quote God on the topic, the reality is much different.  If you really love these people you won’t encourage them to mutilate themselves.

In Belgium, theLondon Mail reports that a transsexual has chosen to die by euthanasia after a botched sex change operation to complete his transformation into a man left him a ‘monster’.

Nathan (born Nancy) Verhelst, 44, died yesterday afternoon after being allowed have his life ended on the grounds of ‘unbearable psychological suffering’.

It is understood to be the first time someone in Belgium has chosen euthanasia after a sex-change, and comes soon after it emerged that it is now the cause of nearly one in 50 deaths in the country. [source]

It makes you wonder why it hasn’t gotten any US press attention. The lead angle of the story was the bizarre suicide by euthanasia of a woman who got an operation to look like a man and in her own words ended up looking “like a monster”. So distraught at the irreversible damage done to herself,  she committed suicide.

Its tragic that individuals are tortured internally with unending psychological pain, but then to get it “fixed” only to fall into a worse state is proof that “transgenderism” is a serious mental dysfunction. This is what messages like this ultimately lead to particularly for unsuspecting gender confused teens.

Suicide rates among transsexuals and those who have undergone gender reassignment surgery are high with some suggesting the rate may be as high as 31 per cent.

More of this sad story:

And Nancy/Nathan struggled with this pain of rejection right until the time of her death, as the article reports: “Hours before his [sic] death Mr. Verhelst had spoken of how, as a child, he ‘was the girl that nobody wanted,’ describing how his mother had complained that she’d wished he’d been born a boy.”

Does it take a psychologist to recognize that this was the real root of Verhelst’s problems? That being rejected from birth by her own mother as “so ugly” and as a “ghost birth” and as not being the son her mother wanted was the real cause of her gender confusion? (I’m not saying this is always the case, but it was obviously the case here.)

Walt Heyer is a man who lived through this himself, first with his grandmother dressing him up as girl when he was just a few years old (and praising him for his looks after dressing him up), then some years later suffering repeated sexual abuse at the hands of another man.

As a married man with children, Heyer concluded he really was a woman, going through years of hormone therapy and then having sex-change surgery and becoming Laura, an identity he kept for years, only to realize his deeper problems were never resolved. Not surprisingly, the sex-change doctor he saw also failed to explore Heyer’s other issues.

Eventually Heyer got off hormones, reversed what he could surgically and married another woman, launching the website SexChangeRegret.com. A report on the website today states, “The Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery says that they have received 1,500 requests for reversal surgery.” Why is that?

A good summary of Intelligent Design: “The simplest living cell includes highly sophisticated, functionally integrated information-processing machinery, with error-detection-and-repair algorithms and their implementation.”  If you believe that the universe came from nothing, that life came from non-life and that it evolved to what we see today, then you are the person described here:

Romans 1:18–20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

It is foolish and rebellious to think that you get to define whether God exists and what He must be like.  Repent and believe while you still have time.  Eternity is a mighty long time to suffer for your foolish pride.

9 Things You Should Know about Casinos and Gambling – a few of them . . .

4. Problem gamblers account for 40 to 60 percent of slot machine revenues, according to studies conducted over the past decade or so.

5. A large-scale study in 2004 found that people who live within 10 miles of a casino have twice the rate of pathological and problem gambling as those who do not.

6. A study of members of Gamblers Anonymous found that upwards of 26 percent have gambling-related divorces or separations.

7. A study that looked at the spread of casino gambling in 300 Metropolitan Statistical Areas found that the presence of a casino reduces voluntarism, civic participation, family stability, and other forms of social capital within 15 miles of a community where it is located.

8. Casino gambling was once a largely upper-class activity. Today, low-income workers, retirees, minorities, and the disabled include disproportionately large shares of regional casino patrons.

Massachusetts Prevents Conservatives From Adopting Children – The evil of the people who think it is a moral good to kill unwanted babies should never surprise us.

A video has been uncovered of Massachusetts officials promising to weed out foster parents with conservative values who would only “tolerate” a youth’s gender confusion and not endorse it.

Not surprisingly, the media ignored the sentencing of the gay rights guy who tried to kill people at the Family Research Council.

Chicago Tribune Hosts Revealing Marriage Forum – More from Chicago – in a move that should surprise no one, many LGBTQX advocates are now saying publicly what they’ve said privately for years: The suppression of individual religious liberty and conscience protections is a design feature, not a bug or even a real issue.  Don’t be fooled.  Their actions aren’t just their Romans 1 rebellion against God, it is about forcing others to affirm their rebellion. Don’t be a part of it.

In a stunning public admission during a debate on the future of marriage in Illinois, the chief sponsor of SB 10, the proposed bill to legalize same-sex “marriage,” homosexual State Representative Greg Harris (D-Chicago) acknowledged that the bill does not provide religious liberty or conscience protections for individual Christian business owners. Further, it was clear that both he and homosexual Chicago Alderman Deb Mell (a former state representative and co-sponsor of of SB 10) oppose any such protections.

Devastating Arguments Against Christianity (Courtesy of the Internet) – A great takedown of some common objections to religion in general and Christianity in particular.  Here’s a sample.

The Claim: “Religion has been the primary cause of war and oppression throughout the history of mankind.”

The Truth: In their comprehensive Encyclopedia of Wars, Phillips and Axelrod document the recorded history of warfare. Of the 1,763 wars presented, a mere 7% involved a religious cause. When Islam is subtracted from the equation, that number drops to 3.2%.

In terms of casualties, religious wars account for only 2% of all people killed by warfare. This pales in comparison to the number of people who have been killed by secular dictators in the 20th century alone.

CBS hails Davis’ “marathon defense of abortion rights” in handicapping TX race– Abortion Barbie runs for governor and media supports her with distorted fluff piece.

The bill Davis tried to block moved the bar on late-term abortions from 24 weeks to 20 weeks, and forced abortion clinics to meet the same regulatory health standards as all other ambulatory surgical offices in the state.  Those efforts had the support of 62% of all Texans, including 61% of women in the state.  (See page 416 of the crosstabs.)  Not only does Davis find herself in that minority, she refuses to contemplate limits on abortion at all, describing late-term abortions as her “sacred ground” in an echo of Nancy Pelosi.  Rather than report honestly on the actual issues of that bill, O’Donnell just characterizes her filibuster as marathon defense of abortion rights.

It’s not going to take $25 million to get these facts in front of Texas voters, but Greg Abbott already has that much in the bank, and he’s aggressively fundraising to build his coffers further.  He may need it if the mainstream media continues to toss hosannas at Davis for doing exactly what Cruz did in Washington — only without encouraging thugs to hijack a legislative session when it didn’t go her way.

The LGBTQX lobby and the complicit media, entertainment, political and education establishments like to pretend that gays commit suicide because Christians quote God on the topic (as if we would ever get suicidal because false teachers insist that God thinks we are wrong.  Here are some sobering observations on this crucial topic via Homosexuality & Suicide:

However Joseph Sciambra, a former gay pornstar, points to a more plausible explanation:

…although, gay men may one day settle down and attempt monogamy, the vast majority, beforehand, had to travel through a wasteland of perversity and promiscuity. Because, every young boy, who just enters the lifestyle, is quickly set upon by a troop of eager older men ready to exploit new recruits. It sets you up for a life of bitterness and disappointment. Some survive and move on, many do not. But, they all reemerge damaged and untrusting.

…the gay lifestyle has been “sanitized” by the media, and that was precisely what I wanted to fight against [by writing my book]; to show just how ugly, and yes dirty, the gay lifestyle is; but also how ultimately sad and tragic it seems to end for almost everyone involved. I especially wanted to reach modern parents who are so willing to offer their sons up to this horror – to explain what awaits their children, and to also give some dignity to those who fell into the life because of no fault of their own.

Now, one of the main recruiting devices is porn. It gives a completely false view of gay relationships and gay sex. In porn, everyone is beautiful, happy and healthy. Its themes, often emphasizing supreme masculinity and sexualized father-son relationships aims at the very woundedness that sits at the center of every gay man’s malformed sense of masculinity. Porn preys upon their desires for healing. What you get, is a quick fix. That, later on, leaves you more damaged than before.

Via Crack, Meth, Addiction, and the Puritans – A fascinating analysis of how “addicts” have more control than we give them credit for.  We are constantly choosing what we see as the great fulfillment.   When we choose badly it is because we value the sin over Jesus.  Ouch.

In a fascinating piece in The New York Times, “The Rational Choices of Crack Addicts,” Dr. Carl Hart presents his research on how crack and meth addicts choose future monetary rewards instead another high.

. . .

Because all men seek happiness, all of life is worship.

What you want is what you worship.

What you worship controls you.

How is your worship of God today?

An open letter to President Obama – a good read, even if just for this handy list of all the awful things he has done.

Sure, future generations will look at you with mockery and scorn because of bigger scandals — Benghazi, the IRS targeting conservatives, Obamacare, the birth control mandate and your attacks on religious liberty, spying on journalists, arming terrorists overseas, Fast and Furious, the green energy scams, the bailouts, your support for infanticide, the billions you’ve given to the abortion industry, your cowardice in refusing to address the Gosnell murders, your reckless exploitation of the Zimmerman trial, the out of control deficit spending, your refusal to enforce immigration laws, the massive expansion of the Welfare State, the lies, the broken promises, etc — but I think, in an understated way, what you’ve done this week is a better microcosm of your entire reign.

Poverty and Wealth Creation – Yes, we should help the truly poor – but with our own money.  But if you really want to help them, create jobs so they can have the dignity and pleasure of work.  Don’t trust the (hypocritically wealthy) false teachers who oppose it.

Wealth creation is a gift of the Creator – a spiritual gift. But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:18) I have often heard sermons on the seductiveness of wealth and the corrupting influence of mammon, but I have yet to hear a sermon affirming the spiritual gift of wealth-creation. And yet it is this very gift that enables our society to flourish. And it is this gift that holds the key to the alleviation of poverty.
