Great message about why we shouldn’t modify worship services to meet the alleged desires of the unsaved.

God was exposing a lie that had held us captive for years.  He was proving that his Word is fully sufficient, and that true converts thirst for it like a desert thirsts for rain.  Many who had grown up in the faith had hearts that were calloused toward the Truth.  Years of comfortable church had led them to hear the Word but excuse themselves from practicing it, steadily becoming self-deceived.  They projected this hard-heartedness onto newcomers, like the kids in the old Life Cereal commercials:  “Try teaching that to Mikey the Seeker – he HATES everything… Heyyyy…  Mikey LIKES it!”  Unfortunately, some never noticed or accepted that new believers were craving pure spiritual milk and even graduating to meat ahead of them.

The Sunday School class at the church we joined last year spent 3 years going verse by verse through 1 Peter.  A recipe for boredom and a shrinking class, right?  Hardly.  It grew like crazy, attracting high school kids (including my daughters) up to retired people.  Real believers want real Bible teaching.  You can tell how much confidence people have in the word of God and its power by how they treat it in sermons and lessons.

The one-size-fits-all response to Obama and his supporters when they complain about the Republican House preventing them from doing something: “You had two years of a Congress with sizable Democratic majorities, plus the momentum from your election win.  If raising taxes [or whatever else they are complaining about] was so important, why didn’t you do it then?”

Atheist Jerry Coyne was so quick to dismiss the fact that Darwinian philosophy was at the root of the Columbine shootings that he said this in light of the latest events in Colorado.

Of course there was no evidence at all that Darwinism or evolution had motivated the shooters. They were disaffected and troubled boys who, thanks to America’s lax gun laws, were able to acquire an arsenal of firearms.

But as the facts show, Coyne was completely wrong.  But he is totally accurate on all of his science and never lets his ideology get in the way, right?

It was amusing to read the anti-gun rhetoric of his followers.  The survival-of-the-fittest types can’t go three sentences without contradicting themselves.

Does it bother any of Obama’s supporters that he has an enemies list and that at least one person on it is now under audit from the IRS and the Labor Department?

Did the mainstream media tell you about the woman killed during an abortion at Planned Parenthood, along with her child?  ”Safe and legal” only applies to the leaders of PP and their protection from accountability for countless acts of hiding statutory rape.

—–

I’ve yet to find one of the anti-gun politicians or false teachers who isn’t pro-legalized abortion.  And I’m pretty sure they are all pro-taxpayer-funded abortion, meaning that they think our country would be better if only more unwanted human beings were destroyed in the womb.

My question for them: Would they switch to opposing abortion if the “doctors” used guns instead of knives?

The #1 thing to remember in the gun control debate: Criminals don’t obey gun control laws.

Methodists in Northeast Approve Pro-Gay Resolution – The Methodist Church in the U.S. is doomed. The non-Christians outnumber the Christians in this conference. Worse yet, even in a conservative area like the Texas Conference the non-Christians are able to keep Bible-believing and Book of Disciple-following pastors from becoming Bishop — and solely because they hold a biblical view of homosexuality.

While I’d love to blame the non-Christians in the denomination for this, it is really the fault of the squishy Bible-believing leaders and members who didn’t have the faith and courage to exercise church discipline and remove false teachers. Appeasement is deadly, not loving.  Sadly, some Bible-believers have learned that the hard way.  Appeasing doesn’t increase your odds of getting promoted, it just makes it 100% likely that you’ve sacrificed your principles and stopped preaching the whole counsel of God.

Leonard Pitts is a racist.  He thinks blacks and Hispanics are too helpless to obtain voter ID, even though they must provide identification for countless other daily activities.  And my guess is that he is pro-legalized abortion, which currently kills blacks at a rate 3x that of whites and Hispanics at a rate 2x that of whites. And those rates will increase as the Liberal dream of taxpayer-funded abortions increases.  Seems kinda racist to me.

The real outsourcing

Barack Obama is trying to appeal to people’s concerns about job outsourcing by making distorted attacks against Mitt Romney’s business record.  But I hope this backfires on him as his other attacks have thus far.  Consider these facts.

1. GE, one of Obama’s non-tax-paying cronies, is moving its x-ray division headquarters from Wisconsin to China. That’s one of many examples.

2. Tax rates are often bigger drivers than wage rates.  When Compaq shipped tons of jobs to Singapore in the 90′s it was because of Singapore’s tax rates.  I know, because I did many of the financial analyses.  Democrats have done nothing to make our tax rates more competitive.

3. The real problem with outsourcing isn’t that the jobs shift geographies but that they shift from citizens/taxpayers to non-citizens/non-taxpayers.  Therefore, illegal immigration is the ultimate catalyst for losing jobs.  Yet Obama has done everything he can to buy more votes by losing more jobs for his citizens.

4. Unions make U.S. businesses less competitive and foreign goods more attractive.

5. The anti-drilling Democrats send countless high paying jobs overseas, and most “Green” jobs have gone to other countries.

6. Oppressive and unworkable regulations like the Dodd-Frank bill and Obamacare make it more enticing for companies to move jobs.

Vote Republican to keep more jobs here.  More jobs here = less unemployment = more taxpayers = less people receiving benefits.

He’s still lying.

First, where is the ACLU?  After all, Obama is seeking to force his religious beliefs on the country.  Oh, wait, they only protest religious views they disagree with — which means that they aren’t opposed to religious views in principle.  They just use that as a tool to suppress free speech.

Second, is this a coincidence?  Obama openly supports gay marriage: 48 hours after top gay donors cut off funding.  And note how it takes the focus off the economy.  Be sure to end any conversation about this with a reminder of how bad our financial situation is.

As Haemet notes, “same-sex marriage” is still not banned anywhere in the U.S.  You should immediately question anyone making that claim, because they are misinformed and/or disingenuous.  And they are probably hateful and ignorant of polygamists and those who practice bestiality.  At least that’s what they say about anyone who disagrees with them about the historic view that marriage is a union of a man and a woman.  They’ll be shocked that you would say that, but they are just pulling up the drawbridge and hating on anyone who doesn’t think just like they do.  You need to be as liberal as them or you are a bigoted hater, but not any more liberal than them or you are a pervert.  Got it?

Make no mistake, Obama didn’t evolve on “same-sex marriage,” he devolved back to his 1996 position because it was costing him campaign contributions. The impatience of the LGBTQX lobby may have cost him the election and the sure support of SSM he would have given after the election.

He has been doing everything imaginable to advance their agenda, including ignoring the Defense of Marriage Act (which the Left was happy about but ignored the dangerous precedent — picture President Bush arbitrarily not enforcing Roe v Wade) and exporting perversions to other countries (we are withholding aid from poor countries unless they go pro-gay).

By the way, he is still lying.  He has no intention of leaving it to the States.  He’ll do the same power grab he did with the Defense of Marriage Act.

Let’s analyze what he said, via Obama endorses gay ‘marriage’: says support based on Jesus, Golden Rule:

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 9, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – President Barack Obama has flip-flopped on gay “marriage” for the second time, endorsing same-sex marriage in an interview today, in which he said his decision was motivated in part by his Christian faith and his belief in the Golden Rule.

This is such a transparent political fundraising stunt.  That is bad enough, but for him to blame it on Jesus is sickening.  Why is he forcing his (false) religious beliefs on us?

Remember, this is the same “Christian” who is not only pro-partial birth abortion but anti-Born Alive Infant Protection Act and who was a devoted follower of Jeremiah Wright (until it cost him something).

“We are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others,” Obama stated,

Yes, “others” like God.

“but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing Himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule.”

That is nonsense and could justify almost anything.

However, Obama had previously implied the Bible supports homosexual unions. “I believe in civil unions that allow a same-sex couple to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other,” he said in 2008. “If people find that controversial, then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans.”

Only a pagan could find Romans 1 to be obscure.  It is one of the most “big picture” books of the Bible.  And the Sermon on the Mount says nothing about oxymoronic “same-sex marriage.”

The president told the media his newly articulated position represents his private views, and that he believes each state should make its own decisions about marriage. However, he has publicly opposed state initiatives to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman in North Carolina and Minnesota.

What — you mean he already broke his word?  And anyone who says he won’t change once again about Federal involvement is naive or lying.

Fox News anchor Sheppard Smith greeted the president’s statement by saying, “President Obama, now in the 21st century.”

What a tool.

“Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples,” he added.

So if his kids are friends with polygamists, pedophiles, people who have sex with animals, etc., then Barry will change?  Or will not being willing to change make him a bigoted hater?

In today’s statement, Obama appeared to flip-flop on the issue of marriage for a second time. In 1996, while running for Illinois state senate against Alice Palmer, Barack Obama filled out a questionnaire from the homosexual activist group IMPACT stating, “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.” His aides later disavowed it.

As a U.S. Senate candidate in 2004, running against Alan Keyes, Obama said, “I’m a Christian. I do believe that tradition and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.” He maintained that position in the 2008 presidential race.

That’s because he’s lying.

Obama’s likely 2012 rival Mitt Romney clarified his position in return, saying, “My view is that marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman…I don’t intend to make any adjustments at this point – or ever, by the way.”

One more reason to vote for Mitt.

But we shouldn’t be surprised with Obama.  Remember, Obama’s UCC is the denomination of Jeremiah Wright and Chuck Currie, who makes ridiculous posts saying that President’s Call For Marriage Equality Consistent With Christian Ethics.  Well, gee, if Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie says it then it must be true!  He had this LOL:

Discrimination is contrary to the will of God.

Really now?  Chuck is going to tell us about the will of God?  This is the “reverend” that denies that Jesus is the only way to salvation, which is only mentioned 100+ times in the Bible.  And he prattles on about the “least of these” but it pro-taxpayer-funded abortions.  You can’t make this stuff up.  Theological Liberals have no conscience on these things.

If those claiming the name of Christ want to disagree with the clear teachings of the Bible, their own denomination and 2,000 years of church history, then the burden of proof is on them to explain why the rest of us are wrong.  Yet in my experience the “pro-gay Christians” just go by their emotions or offer up one logical fallacy after another (e.g., “Jesus never said anything about it, so it must be OK.”)  I have more respect for non-believers.  At least they are clear about being my spiritual enemy.

And don’t miss Pastor Foster’s letter to Obama

Remains of dead Chinese fetuses turn up in capsules — but are we grossed out for the right reasons?

Similarly, some of the same Christians who recoil in horror at the idea of a dead fetus being microwaved in a clinic in China show no concern for the “spare” embryos they created being left to thaw in an IVF clinic in America.

Our moral intuitions are justified—we should be disgusted by the cannibalistic customs of our pagan neighbors in the East. But we should wonder why our discernment fails us when, in the name of advancing science, curing disease, or alleviating infertility, we turn a blind eye to the Satanic practices supported by our Christian neighbors in the West.

We’re like vegetarian butchers at Moloch’s feast. We think we are somehow morally superior because we draw the line at eating the children we kill. But whether the blood is on our mouths or only on our hands, the stain of the slaughter seeps into our souls.

Obama’s gay marriage balancing act gets awkward – It is only awkward because some of his fans don’t realize that he’ll “finally” decide to be full-blown pro-same-sex “marriage” if he is re-elected.  Obama thinks voters are idiots, and he has some good reasons to hold that view.  Fortunately the impatience of some in the pro-gay community will help force his hand and cost him some votes for people who believe his current lies. I’m glad to see Romney with a clear stance here.  One more reason to vote for him.

Some advocates told Yahoo News that Obama surrogates endorsing gay marriage is a way for the campaign to “wink” at second-term support for the policy without taking the political risk of outright embracing gay marriage in an election year. Mitt Romney has said he would pass a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and appoint judges who oppose gay marriage, placing himself far to the right of Obama, who helped end the military’s ban on openly gay service and abandoned the Federal Defense of Marriage Act. But despite this gulf, both candidates oppose gay marriage—an uncomfortable fact when it comes to rallying the Democratic base or fundraising from passionately pro-gay rights donors.

And it is noteworthy that 2% of the population is gay but over 15% of Obama’s big money-raisers are gay.

And then there’s the money, according to the Washington Post, one in six bundlers — the people who raise the big bucks for the Obama campaign — is gay. They are still raising money for a man who continues to twist himself into a pretzel over gay marriage, and whose White House still can’t figure out how to message it. Why? Because they believe wholeheartedly that he actually supports gay marriage, and if re-elected he will come out in full support of it and flip his position.

Paul Washer declares war on the “sinner’s prayer.”  Great points.  My view: The Bible doesn’t ever ask you to say when you were saved or when you said some prayer.  It does tell you to examine whether you are saved now, and why.  Hat tip: Touch Ya Neighbor

Why Obama will win. Or possibly lose.

While arguably the worst President ever — before he has even finished his term! — Obama could still win.  Here’s why:

  • He could cancel MLK day, expose Je$$e and Al for the poverty pimps that they are and more, yet still get 90% of the black vote.
  • Democrats will cheat.  Again.  Especially knowing that if they win that their “Attorney General” will cover it up again.  Expect more New Black Panther voter intimidation.  Why do you think they fight so strenuously against voter ID laws, which are so common sensed that even liberals from Europe can’t understand why we even debate them?
  • All the pro-aborts will vote for him.  They really, really like abortion with absolutely no restrictions, including safeguards for women.
  • When the 51% of people getting benefits realize they can [temporarily] tax the 49% into oblivion, they will do it.  Thinking 15 minutes into the future isn’t their forte’.  The entitlement crowd would rather see the country burn to the ground than give up their benefits.  (See: Greece.)  He isn’t the Food Stamp President by accident.  He wants people to be dependent on the government.
  • The massive payoffs to his union supporters (that your grandkids will pay for) will garner votes, and they’ll want more.
  • The media died in 2008, but the zombie media will still shill for Obama 24×7.
  • He’s the incumbent.  That makes it hard to lose, especially when you are a shameless campaigner-in-chief who has hosted more fundraisers than the last five Presidents combined.  And ask yourself why your media of choice hasn’t told you about that.  Do you think the media would have hidden it if it were President Bush?

So what does that mean?  Unless you want to see the country destroyed even more, then you need to vote for Romney.  Yeah, he’s a Mormon and not very conservative, but the lesser of two evils is less evil.  And Romney is a lot less evil than Obama.

Remember, the next President may get to appoint two Supreme Court justices, and Obama has already tipped his hand at how he’ll be even more unhinged in a 2nd term.  And he’ll abuse his executive powers even more.

Here’s why he might lose:

  • Romney is doing a decent job of campaigning.  He deflected Obama’s ridiculous “Mitt wouldn’t take out Bin Laden like I did” faux macho by noting that even Jimmy Carter would have done it.  Oh, and Obama’s authorization was very tightly written so that if anything went even slightly wrong he would be off the hook.  He made sure it was all about him.  If it goes great, he campaigns on it as if he bravely pulled the trigger, if not, he washes his hands of it.  I think some people will see through that.
  • Some people may come to their senses and realize that they’d rather have jobs than endless unemployment benefits.
  • The independent voters are unlikely to be suckered a 2nd time.
  • His attacks on Romney typically boomerang.  Again: Dog mistreatment issue?  Hey, at least Mitt didn’t eat his.  Silver spoon issue?  That ignores, as Ann Coulter called it, the silver spoon of affirmative action, and ignores Leftist icons FDR and JFK.  Attacking Romney’s faith?  Yeah, polygamy is terrible!  What, it runs in Obama’s family as well?!  Oops!  The “war on women” because you don’t want to pay for contraceptives for 30 yr. old students at expensive law schools who want to sleep around?  Uh, yeah, except the vast majority of jobs lost under Obama were from women and he has a horrible record in how he treats them (they are paid less than men in the White House).

Steve Harvey promotes 90 day fornication rule on TBN:

Actor, comedian, author, and radio personality Steve Harvey made an appearance on the Trinity Broadcast Network’s (TBN) show, Praise the Lord.  Airing May 11th, 2010 with Paula White as the host, Harvey talked about his book, “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.” He specifically discussed the “90 day rule.” This rule tells women to put a man on probation before giving away any “benefits.” Harvey went on to state that he knows that the Bible says a person should wait until s/he gets married to have sex and he agrees with that whole-heartedly.  But he states that since people are not going to wait until marriage to have sex, they should at least wait for 90 days.  Paula White wholeheartedly agreed with him and didn’t correct him at all!  The crowd laughed in agreement.  The Bible warns us in Jude 18-19, “How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.”

What a great idea!  You can also covet, murder, steal, lie, etc. — as long as you wait 90 days!

Why doesn’t Obama run on his record instead of desperately trying to find the killer meme to attack Romney?  Oh, right . . . that record.

“Satan” thanks his “Christian” pastors who prayed for 40 days of abortion — nice satire. My comment to him:

Yes, “your” pastors are doing very good work for you! I see your hands all over their organizations, including the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice — the ones so clueless about science that they don’t even know that abortion kills a human being long after the “choice” to reproduce has taken place.

And nice work on your part to coach the Left on how to shriek about “separation of church and state” when authentic Christians point out that it is immoral to crush and dismember innocent but unwanted human beings but to be hypocritically silent when the fake Christians say the opposite “in the name of Jesus.”

The tragic superficiality of the gay lifestyle – I was surprised yet glad that this actually made it in the NY Times.  Hopefully some people will reconsider their views.

A fascinating and surprising story published in the New York Times, laying bare what many homosexual activists will never admit publicly. It reports the real life tragedy of a typical homosexual man who sees and lives life based on the superficiality of homosexuality. How you look, what you wear and your “positive” attitude about yourself as a homosexual was the false recipe he sold to countless other gay men, but somehow knew that it wasn’t the truth.

On Jan 1st, Bob Bergeron, a quintessentially positive gay man, committed suicide.  He left his friends, past sex partners and acquaintances wondering why. But they are blind to the real issue. The obsession with youth, beauty and sex is a killer. In a suicide note, he summed up the homosexual lifestyle in a single damning sentence:

“It’s a lie based on bad information.”, he wrote.

They have no reason to be nice to you – you already paid them. They don’t get paid more or less based on the quality of care they give you. You can’t get a refund on taxes paid. Chalk this up to the most powerful man in the world weighing in on an issue with the equivalent passion of clicking the “Like” button on Facebook.  In other words, meaningless hypocrisy.

Bonus question: How many women does Obama golf with?

The president himself, however, has a well-documented history of excluding women, especially on the golf course.

Obama played 23 rounds of golf between January and October of 2009 before inviting a single woman to his foursome, the New York Times reported. This was emblematic of broader concerns over the president’s preference for the company and advice of men:

“The technical foul over the all-male game has become a nagging concern for a White House that has battled an impression dating to the presidential campaign that Mr. Obama’s closest advisers form a boys’ club and that he is too frequently in the company of only men — not just when playing sports, but also when making big decisions.”

“Women are Obama’s base, and they don’t seem to have enough people who look like the base inside of their own inner circle,” former Clinton press secretary Dee Dee Myers told the Times.

In a 2011 article titled “The White House Boys’ Club: President Obama Has a Woman Problem,” TIME magazine’s Amy Sullivan detailed the president’s fondness for male-dominated enviroments.

Yeah, there’s a real war on women going on, just not from conservatives.

Screwtape starts a blog

If you like satire, check out Satan’s Blog.  It is akin to what C.S. Lewis might have done if blogging was around when he wrote The Screwtape Letters.  Sometimes considering the perspective of what Satan wants makes it more clear what God wants.

From Obama is NOT a Muslim! You MUST believe me and help me convince others!

Regardless of whether Obama is truly a Muslim or not, he clearly, by his actions, is not a Christian.

And that’s all I care about.

I don’t care what people say they are.  Half the people in Hell say they were Christians.  Big deal.  They didn’t act like it.

And Obama, because he has no core values beyond those of a socialistic worldview, will, if pushed, shamelessly act like a Christian.  And if Obama starts acting like a Christian, my kingdom on earth will suffer.

And I don’t like to suffer.

From Me and Rush Limbaugh’s big mouth!

The dictator was dictating that other people must, based on His Dictateness alone, pay for the sex needs of all women everywhere, including one Ms. Sandra Fluke, a 30-year-old privileged law student going to one of the most expensive law schools in the country.

In a fit of pride, I gloated a rhetorical question: “Where are the sane Americans?”

Remember?

And then I asked this fateful question:

Where is someone to stand up and tell Ms. Keely and Ms. Sandra to stop begging for someone else’s money and control their own friggin’ bodies or go pay for their own damn birth control?

Well, that’s when my luck turned, and out of nowhere surfaced One Sane American.

. . .

He is Conservative One, and he nailed this one: on what basis should taxpayers or insurers (i.e., other people) be required to pay for women’s recreational (and apparently uncontrollable) sex needs?

Hat tip: Sifting Reality

Obama is anti-choice?!

Yes — about school vouchers for poor kids, that is.  See No money for D.C. voucher program in Obama’s gigantic new budget, of course; Update: Meanwhile, White House to boost subsidies for Chevy Volt.  And I’m sure that he isn’t just doing that because of all his union donors.

Oh, you thought I meant anti-choice to crush and dismember innocent but unwanted human beings?  Don’t worry, he is still pro-choice on that.

If the media hadn’t died in 2008 . . .

. . . and weren’t so hopelessly biased, perhaps they would be asking Obama some different questions.  Don’t miss all of 15 Questions The Mainstream Media Would Ask Barack Obama If He Were A Republican. (Hat tip: Glenn)

I would add to this list: “How can your supporters call pro-lifers “zealots” when you were the lone voice against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act?  Aren’t you zealous, even for a pro-legalized abortionist, to fight for the right to kill infants who survived abortions?  And isn’t it zealous of you to fight for taxpayer-funded abortions that will make abortions far less rare and force pro-lifers to pay for them?”

During the practically endless series of Republican debates, we have heard almost every question imaginable asked to Republican candidates – if by every question imaginable, you mean horribly slanted, often irrelevant questions designed to make them look bad and help Obama. We’ve heard questions about contraceptives, religion, Newt’s angry ex-wife, Gardasil, etc., etc., etc. So, what would happen if the mainstream media treated Barack Obama the exact same way that they treat Republicans? The questions might sound a little something like this.

1) Numerous Mexican citizens and an American citizen have been killed with weapons knowingly provided to criminals by our own government during Operation Fast and Furious. If Eric Holder was aware that was going on, do you think he should step down as Attorney General? Were you aware that was going on and if so, shouldn’t you resign?

2) In 2010 you said Solyndra, which gave your campaign a lot of money, was “leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future.” Today, Solyndra is bankrupt and the taxpayers lost $500 million on loans that your administration was well aware might never be paid off when you made them. What do you say to people who say this is evidence of corruption in your administration?

3) Unions invested a lot of time and money in helping to get you elected. In return, they gained majority control of Chrysler, the taxpayers lost 14 billion dollars on General Motors, and General Motors received a special 45 billion dollar tax break. What do you say to people who view this as corruption on a scale never before seen in American history?

4) Through dubious means, you and your allies in Congress managed to push through an incredibly unpopular health care bill that helped lead to the worst election night for the Democratic Party in 50 years. Since the bill has passed, many of your claims about the bill have proven to be untrue. For example, we now know the bill won’t lower costs and despite your assurances to the contrary, big companies like McDonald’s say they may drop health care because of the health care reform. Since the American people have rejected your health care reform and it doesn’t do what you said it would, shouldn’t you work with the Republicans to repeal it?

. . .

15) Members of your administration promised that the trillion dollar stimulus would keep unemployment under 8 percent. Instead, we’ve had 35+ months of 8% and above unemployment. Doesn’t that mean we wasted a trillion dollars on nothing?

Kindergarten politics

And by the title I don’t mean the politics of Kindergarteners (as vicious as those can be!), I mean when elected officials do thoroughly childish things and think we won’t see through them.  The latest example is President Obama’s grandstanding on House Republicans rejection of a 2-month payroll tax cut.

Does anyone seriously think that a two-month extension would have a significant effect on the economy?  Of course not.  This is a transparent game to make it look like the Republicans are trying to “raise taxes.”  The Democrats remember how pressuring President George H. Bush to raise taxes worked to get Clinton elected, so they strive to trick Republicans into raising taxes again.  Hopefully the Republicans will continue to see through the games and force the hands of Obama and the Senate to accept or a reject a longer term deal to keep the taxes down.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, now that they took the short-term populist approach of cutting payroll taxes it will be almost impossible to raise them again.  No Republican will want to oppose letting the cuts expire, even though it technically wouldn’t be a tax increase.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Tuesday rejected legislation to extend a payroll tax cut and jobless benefits for two months, drawing a swift rebuke from President Barack Obama that Republicans were threatening higher taxes on 160 million American workers on Jan. 1.

Obama said the two-month compromise is the only way to stop payroll taxes from going up by two percentage points.

“Now let’s be clear,” Obama said in a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room after the House vote. “The bipartisan compromise that was reached on Saturday is the only viable way to prevent a tax hike on January 1st. The only one.”

Uh, the only one except the case where the Senate and Obama agree to a longer period.

Obama said failure to pass the Senate version of the payroll tax cut extension could endanger the U.S. economic recovery, which he described as “fragile but moving in the right direction.”

Obama is gearing up to run for a second term in next November’s elections and there have been suggestions he will borrow a tactic from a past president and charge that a do-thing Congress is responsible for the country’s ills.

Another option would be to get involved and actually lead.

House Republicans controlling the chamber instead of a two-month extension want immediate negotiations with the Senate on a year-long plan. But the Senate’s top Democrat on Tuesday again ruled out talks until the House passes the stopgap measure.

“President Obama needs to call on Senate Democrats to go back into session … and resolve this bill as soon as possible,” said the Republican leader of the House, Speaker John Boehner. “I need the president to help out.”

From the Dave Barry “I am not making this up” category, the government gives you The Christmas Tree Tax – This is an example of everything wrong with looking to government to micro-manage our lives and economy.

President Obama’s Agriculture Department today announced that it will impose a new 15-cent charge on all fresh Christmas trees—the Christmas Tree Tax—to support a new Federalprogram to improve the image and marketing of Christmas trees.

. . .

Here is government at its best: putting a tax, albeit a tiny one, on something that everyone, including the aliens who plan on destroying humanity over globull warming, knows about. There is absolutely no need for Big Government to help with marketing, research, evaluation, and information that strengthens the Christmas tree industry. Said program will probably cost more than any taxes taken in, just in administration.

The only microscopically redeeming thing is that they called them Christmas tree, not holiday trees.  That alone will probably lead to a lawsuit from the ACLU that will cost ten times the taxes they’ll collect.

The White House lied about meeting with Solyndra — did your preferred media sources tell you about that, or are they too busy giving the latest Herman Cain serial accusers 10x the press that all the Obama scandals are getting?

From the Flying Pig category, NOW (the National Organization of unaborted Women) agrees with pro-lifers — see National Organization for Women co-sponsors DC showing of “Eggsploitation”

The National Organization for Women is doing the right thing here, focusing on a very real reproductive injustice – the exploitation of young women for their eggs.

Seriously, I’m always glad for common ground like this.

Oops! Rich Got Richer Under Obama and Clinton – The title says it all.  Shhh . . . don’t tell the OWS movement that they are protesting the wrong people!

Meanwhile, during Clinton’s eight years, the wealthiest 5% of American households saw their incomes jump 45% vs. 26% under Reagan. The Gini index shot up 6.7% under Clinton, more than any other president since 1980.

So, all in all, under Clinton and Obama, the rich got richer, and the poor got poorer. Hey, Occupiers, why not go protest at Obama’s houses in Washingtonand Chicago?

Great advice from a South Carolina sheriff for ladies to arm themselves to defend against rapists.  I loved this part:

And, of course, there are already the oh-so-predictable cries of ‘but – what about fair trials! Vigilantism!” and ‘oh noes, presuming guilt before innocence’ as an idjit on MSNBC blathered today . . .

The Sheriff’s response? “Well, it’s easy to fix that. Just don’t attack a woman.” But to the left, that’s just pesky logic – reality is hard for them. They are more worried about the rapists and their alleged’rights’ than they are the women being violently assaulted and raped. Let me explain a little something to you, Mr. Craig Melvin of MSNBC – when a woman is being raped, she knows she is being raped. There is no ‘presuming guilt before innocence’because she is being raped; the assaulter is raping her. And self-defense is not vigilante justice. I’m not surprised you can’t tell the difference, though. Given that y’all on the left continue to embrace the Occupy Wall Street movement rather than denouncing it and therampant sexual assaults therein. We women should just shut up and suck it up, right? I mean, what’s a little rape if it’s for an agenda?

Another sad consequence of government recognition of same-sex unions:

Can you imagine forcing foster children to suffer just so you can advance your political agenda?

Of course not!

When I first learned that the gay marriage movement is right now actively working to shut down religious foster and adoption agencies my heart dropped. I could not believe it.

When Illinois passed a “civil union” law, the state began demanding that adoption agencies place children with same-sex couples.

And when groups such as Catholic Charities or the Evangelical Child and Family Agency refused due to religious objections, the state ripped up their contracts!

Ann Coulter on liberal racism – Why Our Blacks are Better Than Their Blacks.  Read it all, but here are some snippets:

By spending the last three decades leveling accusations of “racism” every 10 seconds, liberals have made it virtually impossible for Americans to recognize real racism — for example, the racism constantly spewed at black conservatives.

. . .

The surge in conservative support for Herman Cain confuses the Democrats’ story line, which is that Republicans hate Obama because he’s black.

Cain is twice as black as Obama. (Possible Obama campaign slogan: “Too Black!”)

. . .

When Bush made Condoleezza Rice the first black female secretary of state, terror swept through the Democratic Party. What if people began to notice and ask questions: “Who’s that black woman always standing with George Bush?” Never mind! He’s probably arresting her.

In addition to an explosion of racist cartoons portraying Rice as Aunt Jemima, Butterfly McQueen from “Gone With the Wind,” a fat-lipped Bush parrot and other racist cliches, allegedly respectable liberals promptly called her stupid and incompetent.

Joseph Cirincione, then with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said Rice “doesn’t bring much experience or knowledge of the world to this position.” (Unlike Hillary Clinton, whose experience for the job consisted of being married to an impeached, disbarred former president.)

. . .

Trafficking in racist imagery is consequence-free for liberals because they have ruined charges of “racism” with their own overuse of the term. By now, any accusation of racism has the feel of a Big Foot sighting.

It’s a neat trick, rather as if the Nazis had called everything “genocide” right before launching the Holocaust, and then admonished resisters not to “play the genocide card.”

Liberals step on black conservatives early and often because they can’t have black children thinking, “Hmmm, the Republicans have some good ideas; maybe I’m a Republican.”

The basic setup is:

Step 1: Spend 30 years telling blacks that Republicans are racist and viciously attacking all black Republicans.

Step 2: Laugh maliciously at Republicans for not having more blacks in their party.

Modalism and Stockholm Syndrome in the Church – nice recap of a debate with a T.D. Jakes supporter (Jakes holds a heretical Oneness Pentecostal position but gets away with appearing to be a mainstream evangelical).  I loved the starting quote from John Calvin:

A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God’s truth is attacked and yet would remain silent.

Those who put unity over doctrine usually have bad doctrine.

It will be interesting to see where this goes – Breaking: Whistleblower alleges Texas Planned Parenthood committed massive Medicaid fraud (What??  You mean that people who kill the unborn for a living might commit financial misdeeds?)

According to the complaint:

The scheme included the express policy of billing these government health care programs for a predetermined list of reimbursable services for every eligible patient who visited the clinic, regardless of whether those services were medically necessary or ever actually provided to the patient….

PPGC policy regarding which medical services to provide and bill for depended in large part on who was paying the bill…. [S]elf-pay patients were provided services based on medical necessity. WHP, Medicaid, and Title XX patients, however, were provided a series of predetermined servicesbased on what those programs would pay for with the result that patients covered by government health programs were often provided services on an “across the board” basis even when such services were not medically necessary. The medical testing services most commonly provided to Medicaid and Title XX patients on an “across the board” basis… are:

a) Gonorrhea testing (Codes 87590 and 87591);
b) Chlamydia testing (Codes 87490 and 87491);
c) HIV testing;
d) Syphilis testing;
e) urinalysis (Codes 81002 and 81015);
f) hemoglobin blood count testing (Code 85018); and,
g) pregnancy testing

Because Medicaid guidelines allow for reimbursement for counseling on primary birth control and back-up bc, each Medicaid/WHP-eligible patient was also billed for both for every visit, although such counseling was not necessary and not given.

Another trick was to hand every contracepting patient a bag of condoms and vaginal film on her way out the door, despite the fact they were not needed or requested. This allowed PPGC to bill the government for, according to the complaint:

a. Condoms $4.20
b. Vaginal film $12.60
c. Method counseling $30.60 (Primary method, plus film and condoms as ‘back-up’ $10.20 X 3)
d. Problem counseling $10.45 (Under PPGC procedures, handing out condoms justified billing the government for ‘problem counseling’ because condoms are also used to prevent STD’s) (Code 99402 + Modifier FP [$10.45])

Obama knows the mind of God?!

When politicians on either side make claims like this you should be skeptical.  If they quoted some actual Bible verses, in context, then that would be relevant — although in theory, the “separation of church and state” crowd should be going nuts about Obama’s statements [crickets chirping].

See Obama: God wants Congress to pass my jobs bill « Hot Air.

Urging Congress again to pass a portion of his jobs bill, President Obama claimed Wednesday that God is on his side.

Mr. Obama was standing at the D.C. side of the Key Bridge, calling attention to America’s crumbling infrastructure and the need to put more construction workers back on the job. He criticized House Republicans for ignoring his legislation while approving a measure that reaffirms “In God We Trust” as the national motto.

“That’s not putting people back to work,” Mr. Obama said. “I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work.”

It’s hard not to ever-so-slightly suspect that, in Obama’s mind, God’s will ought to conform to his and not the other way around … but I’m trying very hard to banish that suspicion. Humility might not be Obama’s strong suit, but surely not even he is that arrogant.

At the daily press briefing, when a reporter asked Jay Carney whether Obama’s invocation of God might not have been a bit much, the press secretary defended it with this: “I believe the phrase from the Bible is ‘The Lord helps those who help themselves.’” Not so, Mr. Carney, not so. Nowhere in the Bible does that adage make its appearance.

Ugh.  Looks like his press secretary knows as much about the Bible as the President.

Why Republicans should not vote for Romney

1. He’s a RINO (Republican In Name Only).  Example: As much as he has tried to pretend he is pro-life, it is all just weasel-words in the predictable “I’m personally against crushing and dismembering innocent human beings but if elected I won’t do a thing about it” political spin.

2. Even if he wasn’t a RINO he can’t beat Obama.  He can’t run against Obamacare, because it is mirrored on Romneycare.  And the Democrats and the mainstream media (redundancy alert, I know) are well aware of that.  That’s why they and the Republican elite keep pushing Romney as the front-runner. Their worst-case scenario, which has a slim chance of occurring, would be a President that is almost as Left as Obama.

See Federal Government Provides Life Support for RomneyCare.

State treasurer of MA absolutely shreds RomneyCare, which “has nearly bankrupted the state” and is surviving solely because of federal aid…

“If President Obama and the Democrats repeat the mistake of the health insurance reform here in Massachusetts on a national level, they will threaten to wipe out the American economy within four years,” Cahill said in a press conference in his office.

…[T]he state’s health insurance law…Cahill said, “has nearly bankrupted the state.”

Cahill said the law is being sustained only with the help of federal aid, which he suggested that the Obama administration is funneling to Massachusetts to help the president make the case for a similar plan in Congress…
Voters in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina should take note. After all, they are paying for RomneyCare along with all of the rest of us.
3. The media will do the same thing with Romney that they did with McCain: Be his cheerleader until the primaries are over, then bring out the knives.  Only then will you hear them bring up the oddities of Mormonism and other attacks.
Conclusion: Don’t be suckers and let the Democrats tell you how to vote!
